Play & Learn November 3rd 9:30-11am N4013 Hwy. 45, Antigo. Play & Learn is a weekly play group program for parents, caregivers and children from birth to age 5. Staff will provide a parent lesson, an activity for parents and children to do together. The activity will build skills for school readiness and milestone achievement. Quarterly Ages and Stages questionnaires are made available to parents and caregivers to assist families in helping their children to reach age based development milestones. Redpaw Dirty Dog Dryland Event November 5th-6th 9am Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Boy Scout Reservation, W6500 Spring Lake Road, Pearson. Come experience the excitement of sled dog racing on dry land at the Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan boy Scout Reservation! You’ll see teams with bikes, scooters, carts, and dogs partnered with running mushers. Spectators are encouraged to visit with drivers and schmooze with their dogs at their trucks too! Races start at 9am both days. Home cooked food service will be available at race site. Gartzke Trail Work Day November 5th 9am-3pm Gartzke Flowage Hiking, Cross-Country Ski & Snowshoe Trails, W6379 5th Avenue Road, Antigo. We are planning to work from approx. 9am till 3pm, but you can come whenever you can make it. We will start our work projects in the parking area & then move to the Main Shelter. We will have maps in the shelter with project jobs listed. If no one is at the shelter just pick a job or look for crews already working. Tools as usual, many tools will be supplied at the work site, but you are more than welcome to bring your own rake and pruners. Lunch will be provided by the club around noon. Introduction to Photography Classes November 5th 10-11:30am Antigo Public Library, 617 Clermont Street, Antigo. Local professional photographer Craig Pilecky is offering three classes to those who wish to learn the elements of beginning photography. Class dates are the following Saturdays: Nov. 5, 12, and 19 from 10-11:30 a.m. in the library’s McGinley Room. This is an introduction to DSLR & Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Photography. This is not geared to cell phone cameras. The classes include: Nov. 5 – Help choosing a camera; understanding aperture, ISO, shutter speed & focal length; Shooting in aperture priority & manual mode. Nov. 12 – Portraiture with a flash and without. Nov. 19 – Landscape — composition & perspective. Maximum class size is 8 individuals. Faith, Food & Family Annual Gala presented by Nativity of Our Lord School November 5th 4:30pm Hodag Banquet Center, Rhinelander. This auction is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and it enables Nativity to offer its high standards of Catholic education for more than 200 students in preschool through eighth grade. Last year’s donations provided the students with technology and classroom enhancements. We will hold a dinner, silent and live auctions, and raffles. All proceeds from the gala go directly to the cost of educating the students.
