North Central Region road construction update
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) provides a weekly update on road construction in North Central Wisconsin, which includes: Adams, Green Lake, Florence, Forest, Iron, Langlade, Lincoln, Marathon, Marquette, Menominee, Oneida, Portage, Price, Shawano, Vilas, Waupaca, Waushara, and Wood counties.

Iron County
Highway: WIS 169
Location: Vaughn Creek, town of Gurney
Schedule: October 10 to late November 2016
Cost: $1.3 million
Description: Crews will construct a new bridge.
Traffic impacts: WIS 169 is closed at Vaughn Creek. Motorists are detoured via WIS 13, WIS 77, US 51, and US 2.
Highway: WIS 47 (*updated*)
Location: Lost Creek Bridge
Schedule: September 6 to October 31, 2016
Cost: $550,000
Description: Crews will replace the bridge and install new guardrail.

Traffic impacts: WIS 47 is closed at the bridge. Motorists are detoured via US 51 and Vilas County H. The road will remain closed during construction.

Location: Bear River Bridge; Price County line to WIS 47
Schedule: June 13, 2016 to November 8, 2016
Cost: $3.6 million
Description: Crews will replace the Bear River Bridge, resurface the roadway, replace 18 culverts, and install centerline rumble strips.

Location: County T to the north Langlade County line
Schedule: September 26 to November 4, 2016
Cost: $926,000
Description: Crews will resurface the roadway, extend two culverts, replace three culverts, and install centerline rumble strips.

Description: Crews will resurface the roadway, replace four culverts and install centerline rumble strips.

Lincoln County
Highway: US 51
Location: County S interchange (towns of Bradley and Skanawan)
Schedule: October 24 to late November 2016
Cost: $200,000
Description: Crews will install cable barrier in the median.
Traffic impacts: Motorists can expect weekday, single lane closures between County S and Herb Mitchell Road.
Marathon County
Highway: WIS 29 (*updated*)
Location: County J to County Q
Schedule: August 2 to November 18, 2016
Cost: $2.65 million
Description: Crews will repair and replace pavement on WIS 29 and the two interchange ramps, resurface the interchange bridges, and reconstruct the median crossovers.

Traffic impacts: Motorists can expect to encounter single lane closures, a reduced speed limit of 55 MPH, and a reduced lane width to 10 feet. Motorists can also expect ramp closures at County Q.

Location: 17th Avenue to 1st Street, WIS 52/Stewart Avenue/WIS 29 interchange ramps
Schedule: June 29, 2016 to November 11, 2016
Cost: $3.25 million
Description: Crews will resurface and recondition sections of the roadway, replace pavement, and replace traffic signals. Additional improvements include new sections of curb and gutter, sidewalk and storm sewer

Traffic impacts:
- The inside lanes of WIS 52 are closed in each direction between 9th Avenue and 1st Street.
- Lanes are closed on 1st Street, 1st Avenue, 3rd Avenue, and Scott Street to accommodate the work on WIS 52.
- To ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians, parking is restricted along Scott Street — between 1st Street and 3rd Street — and on 1st Avenue, half a block north of Stewart Avenue.
- McClellan Street is closed at the intersection with 1st Street for the reconstruction of the northbound lanes of 1st Street. Traffic is able to access 1st Street via 2nd Street and Grant Street.
- On Tuesday, November 1, crews plan to shift traffic onto the completed northbound lanes of 1st Street to complete the reconstruction of the intersection of 1st Street and Scott Street and McClellan Street will be reopened.
- Traffic backups and delays will likely occur during peak travel times. To avoid delays, local traffic may want to use an alternate route.
Highway: US 51
Location: Decator Drive to the Lincoln County line
Schedule: July 5, 2016 to late May 2017
Cost: $4.5 million
Description: Crews will resurface the highway and the four County WW ramps to extend the life of the pavement.

Location: Decator Drive to County WW
Schedule: February 29, 2016 to late October 2017
Cost: $6.32 million
Description: Crews will replace the bridge decks on northbound US 51 over Decator Drive and on northbound and southbound US 51 over County WW

Location: Sunrise Drive to Business 51
Schedule: April 29, 2014 to October 21, 2016
Cost: $18.8 million
Description: Crews will widen and replace bridge decks on WIS 29 bridges over Business 51 and the Wisconsin River.

Marquette County
Highway: I-39
Location: WIS 23/82 to Edgewood Court
Schedule: March 14, 2016 to May 15, 2017
Cost: $7.2 million
Description: Crews will replace the I-39 southbound bridge and resurface the I-39 northbound bridge over the WIS 23/82 interchange, realign the southbound ramps at the interchange, realign a section of Crossroads Clinic Road, resurface the northbound and southbound I-39 bridges over Fawn Court, and raise the County M and Edgewood court bridges over I-39.

Traffic impacts:
- Single lane closures, temporary traffic signals, and a reduced speed limit of 45 MPH on WIS 23/82 under I-39.
- Reduced speed limit of 55 MPH on I-39 at the WIS 23/82 interchange.
- Single lane closures on I-39 near Fawn Court.
Oneida County
Highway: US 51 (*updated*)
Location: Rocky Run Road to County Y
Schedule: February 29, 2016 to November 2017
Cost: $10.1 million
Description: Crews will reconstruct US 51, replace culverts, reconstruct intersections, lengthen existing passing lanes, and construct a new bridge over Rocky Run Creek.

Traffic impacts: The southbound passing lane between South Blue Lake Road and Little Bearskin Road is closed and will remain closed until the project is completed in 2017. The northbound and southbound shoulders of US 51 between Little Bearskin Road and South Blue Lake Road are closed.
Portage County
Highway: Business 51 (Post Road), Plover
Location: Green Drive to Springville Drive
Schedule: March 7, 2016 to late November 2016
Cost: $8.65 million
Description: Crews will convert the existing, undivided four-lane roadway to a divided four-lane roadway with wider lanes, a raised median, and designated turn lanes. Work also includes constructing new sidewalks, bicycle lanes, and providing new street lighting.

Shawano County

Location: County D to Campground Road (town of Seneca)
Schedule: October 24 to late November 2016
Cost: $99,000
Description: Crews will install cable barrier in the median.

Location: US 45/WIS 29 and WIS 29/47 interchanges
Schedule: August 15 to November 4, 2016
Cost: $2.7 million
Description: Crews will resurface the ramps and roadways at the interchanges and apply anti-skid treatment to the bridges over WIS 29.

Wood County
Highway: County P (Old US 10), Auburndale (*updated*)
Location: US 10 to County F
Schedule: April 25 to late November 2016
Cost: $5.5 million
Description: Crews will replace pavement, construct a new local road system, remove railroad crossings, reconstruct and realign intersections, and construct a pedestrian underpass.

Traffic impacts:
o The North Road/County P intersection is closed. Traffic is detoured via County K, County H, and County M.
- Motorists can expect closures on County P at:
o The intersection with Progress Street (part of the new local road system)
o Approximately 900 feet west of the intersection with Marshfield Street
o The west side of the County M intersection
o The west side of the North Road/County P intersection
o Approximately 600 feet east of the Connor Street/County P intersection
o The Connor Street/Leo Avenue intersection
- The new local road system is open for all traffic.
- County P is open between George Avenue and County M.
Motorists are reminded to drive with caution in the work zone and should be prepared to encounter slow moving trucks. Motorists should slow down, use caution and stay alert when driving through construction zones. To avoid delays, consider taking an alternative route and avoid peak travel periods.
Construction-related traffic impacts are subject to change and are dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction status.
