Norma Kathleen Thomas, 83
Norma Kathleen Thomas, of Antigo, died Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Ill., under the care of hospice and surrounded by her family. She was 83 years old. She was born on August 9, 1933 in Antigo, a daughter of the late Joseph and Clara (Stieber) Zelenka. She married William Thomas on October 6, 1956 at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death on August 30, 1976.
Norma attended St. John Catholic Grade School and graduated from Antigo High School in 1951. She then attended St. Mary School of Nursing in Wausau.
Mrs. Thomas had a long career in nursing, having worked at in Hospitals in Wausau, Mayville, N.D., Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., Mount Clemens, Mich., and at Langlade Memorial Hospital retiring in 1998.
She enjoyed sewing, woodworking, going to rummage sales and traveling.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Marcinczyk of Elgin, Ill. and Suzanne (George) Kollias of Mount Prospect, Ill.; two sons, Robert (Lori) Thomas of Marietta, Ga. and John (Corrine) Thomas of Tallahassee, Fla.; a sister, Ruth Robinson of Antigo; a brother, Jerry (Mary) Zelenka of Wausau; seven grandchildren, William, Sara and Anna Thomas, Julian and Brandon Marcinczyk, Steve and Zoe Kollias; and two great-grandchildren, Rileigh Roach and Benjamin Thomas.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a grandson, Andre Marcinczyk.
A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will take place in the Queen of Peace Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home. A parish wake service will be held Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
