Winter Tires:

Now that it’s December, the official start to winter is only three weeks away. If you haven’t yet, now is the time to start thinking about putting winter tires on your vehicle, or replacing your old tires all together. Winter tires are designed for safety while driving in snow, rain, slush and ice, giving you more control behind the wheel.

Wisconsin law has certain requirements when it comes to tires on your vehicle.

The law states that the tires have to have at least 2/32 inch tread depth in every major tire groove. If your vehicle is required to have fenders, the tire may not protrude more than 2” beyond the fender line, and all tires on the same axle also have to be the same size.

The Antigo Police Department reminds you to always keep decent tires on your vehicle, slow down while driving in winter weather and create a larger following distance.
