Antigo Police & Langlade County Sheriff Reports for 12/5/16
ANTIGO POLICE REPORTS
Monday, November 21st
7:23 AM Officers received a call from a male on 7th Avenue reporting that their pet rabbit was taken from its cage sometime overnight, along with the food and water dishes. The information was put on file.
7:53 AM Officers responded to a call from a female on 3rd Avenue reporting a suspicious vehicle in her driveway. The caller gave officers the license plate number. Officers were advised. The vehicle was removed.
10:01 AM Officers responded to a call from a male on Graham Avenue reporting that a pit bull was loose and ran after his dog and his grandchildren. Officers spoke with the female owner on Arctic Street. She had moved here from another city and was unaware of the ordinance prohibiting pit bulls. Officers gave her until Friday, 11/25 to have the two pit bulls removed. 11/26/16 Officers spoke with the female subject. She told officers that she found someone to take the dogs.
11:53 AM Officers received a call from a male subject reporting that he had been scammed. He told officers that someone had called him and had his wife’s social security number. Officers spoke with the couple at the Safety Building. They had received a call from a male subject who said that the female owed $430 on an outstanding loan and he wanted her to pay with a credit card. The male subject told them that they would be served papers if they did not pay. Officers advised the couple that this was a fraud attempt. The couple was not out any money. Officers also advised them to check their credit report.
1:42 PM Officers responded to a call from the Department of Social Services reporting that there was a female there that was out of control and screaming. Once officers arrived, the female subject calmed down and continued her meeting.
4:21 PM The owner of an area business on 4th Avenue came to the Safety Building to report a theft by one of his former employees. He believed that the female subject stole from the business. Officers were investigating.
5:00 PM Officers were investigating a retail theft from an area business on Hwy. 64. There were three suspects.
6:36 PM Officers came upon a two car accident at Hwy. 45 and Hwy. 64. One male driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 1st offense. A state report was completed.
10:17 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at 2nd Avenue and Superior Street. The driver was issued a written warning for speed.
Tuesday, November 22nd
5:40 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at 10th Avenue and Western Road. The driver was issued citations for operating while suspended, no proof of insurance and was given a written warning for registration.
10:18 AM Officers issued a citation to a male juvenile for disorderly conduct for an incident that occurred at an establishment on Forrest Avenue on 11/15/16. The male subject was yelling and swearing at the staff and had to be removed several times from the room, but his behavior continued.
11:07 AM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that a pickup truck that was pulling a trailer lost two tires off of the trailer on Neva Road. The vehicle was last seen southbound on Neva Road. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle. The tires were placed in the parking lot of an area business on Neva Road, in case the owner came back for them.
11:18 PM Officers responded to a call from a female on Wausau Road reporting that about 30 minutes earlier a larger female subject in her 30’s with long, lighter brown hair, knocked on her door aggressively asking for cigarettes and something for pain. When the caller told the female that she had nothing but aspirin, the female subject left, saying that she lived just down the road. Officers checked the area. They were unable to locate the female subject.
Wednesday, November 23rd
1:54 AM Officers responded to a report of a possible intoxicated driver that went through the drive thru of an area business on Neva Road. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.
2:09 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at 10th Avenue and Clermont Street. The driver was issued a citation for having the driver’s side window obstructed.
8:35 AM Officers responded to a call from a male on Elm Street reporting that someone kept driving through his yard. The caller gave officers the name of a male and female suspect. Officers observed tracks from the driveway, around the house, across the lawn and then back out to Elm Street. Officers attempted to make contact with the suspects to warn them about their driving habits.
5:27 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Century Avenue and Clermont Street. The female driver was given a written warning for no headlights.
6:03 PM Officers responded to an anonymous report of a white Grand Am vehicle that had its back end parked in the southbound lane of 5th Avenue and Edison Street. The vehicle was towed. At 7:50 PM the female owner of the vehicle came to the Safety Building to report that her vehicle was missing. Officers advised her to contact the towing company.
6:22 PM Officers came upon an accident at Edison Street and Martin Avenue. A male driver was issued a citation for operating without a license and failure to have his passenger in a seatbelt. A state report was completed.
10:36 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Langlade Road and Elmo Street. The driver was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.
Thursday, November 24th
1:02 AM Officers responded to an anonymous report of a male and female subject arguing on Edison Street. The male subject was arrested on possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
5:49 AM Officers responded to a report of a male subject passed out in the entrance of an area business on 5th Avenue. Officers gave the male subject a ride home.
6:33 PM Officers responded to a call from the employee of an area business on Neva Road reporting that while he was doing a bathroom inspection, he found a wallet, needle and some drugs.
10:37 PM Officers responded to a call from a female on Forrest Avenue reporting that someone broke the storm door on her residence. The caller told officers that she had been gone for most of the day and when she came home she found the screen and the pneumatic door closer were damaged. There was also damage found to the strike plate and seal on the main door. It appeared to officers that forced entry was attempted but not gained. Tracks were observed in the snow. There were no suspects. An extra patrol was requested.
Friday, November 25th
1:27 AM Officers responded to an anonymous complaint of two pit bull type dogs barking on 2nd Avenue. The dogs were barking upon the officer’s arrival and they did not stop. Officers could not see what type of dogs they were. Officers left their card, telling the owner to call. 4:04 PM The female owner of the dogs called. She told officers that the dogs had been mistakenly left home alone. She told officers that the dogs were lab mix mutts.
2:19 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at 5th Avenue and Pine Street. The driver was issued citations for operating while suspended and no insurance.
5:27 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and Mendlik Street. The driver was issued a citation for speed.
7:27 AM Officers responded to a call from a male standing in front of an area business on Superior Street who found a knife. He was going to wait there for officers to arrive. It was a small kitchen knife. Officers picked it up and disposed of it.
6:02 PM Officers arrested a female subject on 1st Avenue on a Department of Corrections probation hold.
11:10 PM Officers responded to an anonymous complaint that two underage (19 year old) female subjects entered an area business on Edison Street about 20 minutes earlier. Officers were unable to locate the female subjects.
11:38 PM Officers were out with a male subject at Edison Street and 5th Avenue. The male subject was issued a citation for open intoxicants off the premises
Saturday, November 26th
12:39 AM Officers were out with a male subject at Edison Street and 5th Avenue. The male subject was issued a citation for open intoxicants off premises.
8:03 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at North Avenue and Charlotte Street. The female driver was issued a written warning for speed.
9:23 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and North Avenue. The driver was issued a written warning for speed.
9:54 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and Badger Avenue. The driver was issued a written warning for speed.
10:17 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and North Avenue. The driver was issued a written warning for speed.
Sunday, November 27th
1:14 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and North Avenue. The driver was issued a citation for expired registration.
2:20 AM Officers were out with a female subject at 5th Avenue and Edison Street. The female subject was issued a citation for open intoxicants off premises.
2:29 AM Officers were out with a male and female subject at 5th Avenue and Edison Street. They were issued citations for open intoxicants off premises.
9:49 AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Neva Road reporting a male shoplifter. Officers referred the subject to the District Attorney’s office.
11:48 AM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that people appeared to be panhandling outside an area business on Hwy. 64. Officers talked to the subjects who told them that they were trying to get gas for their RV to get back to Arizona. Officers checked the area later, the subjects were gone.
LANGLADE COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTS
Wednesday, November 23rd
12:28 AM Officers received a call from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office reporting a vehicle in the east ditch on Hwy. 17, north of the Cty. Rd. H/Cty. Rd. Q intersection. The caller did not stop. They only saw slide in tracks and the reflection of a vehicle. Dispatch spoke with a female subject from Merrill who stated that her boyfriend was the driver of the vehicle. She stated that he was bleeding and cold. Another male subject gave the male driver a ride to the Merrill hospital. A state report was filed.
5:49 AM Officers responded to a call from a male subject reporting that he went in the ditch on Cty. Rd. S, south of Hwy. 64 about 3 miles. The vehicle was towed. A state report was filed.
7:27 AM Officers received a call from a female subject reporting that she was in a ditch on Hwy. 64, west of Polar and she needed a wrecker. At 7:43 AM the female subject called back. She had gotten herself out by driving through two people’s yards. The wrecker was notified.
10:42 AM Officers received a call from a female subject reporting that her car was in the ditch at Sugar Bush Road and Huggins Road. She needed a tow truck. The tow truck was later cancelled when the female stated that she had someone coming to help her.
1:38 PM Officers responded to a call received from the Lincoln County Sherriff’s officer reporting an accident at Cty. Rd. J and Cty. Rd. H. involving a female subject.
3:10 PM Officers responded to a call from a female subject reporting that she was in the ditch on Hwy. 55, north of Cty. Rd. K. A wrecker was already on its way. Officers notified the Forest County Sheriff’s Office. They went to the scene. The vehicle was towed. A report was completed.
4:16 PM Officers responded to a call reporting a Red Dodge Durango in the ditch on Hwy. 64, west of Shady Rd. There was damage to the vehicle and a tow truck was needed. The vehicle was towed. The female driver complained of neck pain and was transported to the hospital.
5:06 PM Officers received a report of a gray GM passenger car in the ditch at Hwy. 55 and Klapper Road. The occupants were calling a wrecker. The vehicle was towed.
9:06 PM Officers received a call from a female subject reporting that her son’s red Subaru vehicle went into the ditch at Cty. Rd. A and Cty. Rd. S. They were able to get the vehicle out. It would be parked on a nearby logging road until the next morning.
Thursday, November 24th
12:23 AM Officers responded to a vehicle in the ditch at Kramer Road and Cty. Rd. A. Officers reported that the vehicle appeared to have been in an accident. There was front end damage and there were some pine needles in the hood. There were no occupants and open intoxicants were present in the vehicle. Officers were unable to determine where the vehicle entered the ditch. The vehicle was towed. The tow company was told not to release the vehicle until the Langlade County Sheriff’s office told them to. 10:20 AM The vehicle owner called officers and was upset that his vehicle was towed. The male subject told officers that he was driving, but not drinking. He told officers that the front end damage to the vehicle was pre-existing. Officers told the male that he would be cited for open intoxicants. Officers told the towing company to release the vehicle.
Friday, November 25th
3:26 AM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that her vehicle was in the ditch on Hwy. 55, north about 5 miles from Cty. Rd. A. She told officers that the vehicle was in about 5 feet and needed to be towed. The female subject was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 1st offense and operating a motor vehicle with a prohibited alcohol content, 1st offense. She was also cited for being left of center, failure to maintain control, inattentive driving and was given a 7 day correction notice for operating without insurance. The vehicle was towed. A state report was completed.
10:12 AM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that she had belongings stolen from her storage unit on Hwy. 45 north of Antigo. The owner of the units had advised the female that her lock was gone and put a new one on for her. The female then went to check the unit and noticed items were missing. Some items included a tote full of DVDs and a tote of dolls and toys. A toolbox was open, but it was unknown what was missing. Other areas were empty that appeared to hold items at one time, but the female subject could not remember what had been there.
3:25 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that a red semi had been tailgating her for about 5 miles on Hwy. 64 going eastbound. He finally passed her and was traveling at a high rate of speed. The caller estimated that the semi was going about 75 MPH and at one point almost caused an accident. Officers followed the semi and then stopped the vehicle. They informed the driver of the complaint.
6:49 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that she and another male driver were involved in a two vehicle accident at Cty. Rd. TT and Cty. Rd. A. She stated that she had stopped at a stop sign and the male driver had driven into her. She stated that they had exchanged insurance information and would settle the damages. She told officers that the accident had occurred at 6:00 PM. The female subject told officers that neither of them had been drinking. Officers sent a teletype to the Forest County Sheriff’s office to contact the male driver of the second vehicle to get information on him and his vehicle. Officers went to the female subject’s residence. They saw damage to the front end of the vehicle. Officers advised her that they would be citing her and the other driver for failure to report the accident.
Saturday, November 26th
4:16 PM Officers received a call from a male subject reporting that a green 2011 GMC vehicle had blocked him in while he was hunting on Kentwood Lane and Kentwood Road. Officers received an additional call from another male subject stating that the previous caller drove around at night with a loaded crossbow and was poaching. Officers were investigating.
Sunday, November 27th
6:46 AM Officers responded to a report of a silver Jeep Wrangler was in the ditch about 1-1.5 miles east of Hwy. 55 on Hwy. 64. Nobody was around it. The vehicle was towed. At 8:30 AM officers called the male subject that owned the vehicle and left a message. At 12:30 PM the male subject called and admitted to driving the vehicle. He told officers that he put it in the ditch at 10:00 PM and didn’t call because he went hunting that morning. He said that he had called for a tow truck, but was told that he needed to call the Sheriff’s department first. Upon the officer’s arrival, the engine had still been warm, the transmission smelled very burnt, the serpentine belt was blown off the engine and coolant had spilled everywhere from overheating. This did not match the information that the male subject had given officers. An accident report was filed. The male subject was cited for failure to report an accident.
7:51 AM Officers received a call from a female reporting that she slid on black ice and her vehicle went in the ditch south of Cty. A on Hwy. 55. Her vehicle was a dark gray Impala. She believed that there was no damage. She told officers that she had already called AAA and they were sending a tow truck. There was no damage.
10:14 AM Officers responded to a 911 call from a female reporting a vehicle down in the swamp just west of her residence on Elbow Road. The vehicle was not occupied and no footprints were seen. The vehicle was towed. The male subject that owned the vehicle was cited for no insurance, operating without a license and failure to report an accident. A state report was filed.
Monday, November 28th
11:55 AM Officers responded to a call from a female at Elcho School reporting an unruly male student. Officers found out that the male was upset because his phone was taken away. He had closed the door and told a staff member that they were not going to leave until he got his phone back. The male student eventually left the classroom without his phone and nothing else happened.
12:07 PM Officers responded to a call from a male subject reporting that he almost missed a stop sign at 7th Avenue and Superior Street due to slick roads, and then some teenage male subjects in a black Dodge truck flipped him off, threatened him with a pipe and swore at him. Officers determined that this was a road rage incident. Both parties were at fault. The reporting male subject nearly slid through the intersection, while the teens were northbound on Superior Street. They were almost hit by the vehicle. They flipped off the male driver, who then tailgated the teens. The two vehicles at one point bumped each other. One of the male teens admitted to officers that he grabbed a pipe, when he noticed a crossbow and firearm inside the other male’s vehicle. After talking with officers, both sides admitted that they were out of line.
7:51 PM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that a vehicle was in the ditch at Cty. Rd. S and Crestwood Road. The caller stated that a male subject was exiting the vehicle, wearing a mask. Officers found out that the driver was a female subject who was wearing a hood, not a mask. She had swerved to avoid a deer and was unable to back out of the ditch. The vehicle was pushed out without any damage. Officers got consent to search the vehicle. Nothing was located.
Tuesday, November 29th
4:41 AM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting a one vehicle accident just south of Lily on top of Lily Hill at Hwy. 55 and Hwy. 52. Officers received a second call from the same male reporting that a male subject from the accident got into his vehicle and begged him for a ride. The caller described the male as an intoxicated Native American, maybe in his 30s, wearing a light colored coat and dark pants. The male subject got out of the caller’s vehicle at Hwy. 55 and Hwy. 64. Officers checked that area. They were unable to locate the male subject. The vehicle was towed. Officers talked with the reporting male who stated that he let the male subject use his cell phone. Officers were able to find the female subject that the male called on Facebook, with a photo of the male subject in the accident. The female registered owner of the vehicle called dispatch looking for her vehicle. They told the female that an officer would call her back. The female subject had not returned any of the officer’s phone calls.
Wednesday, November 30th
7:02 AM Officers received a call from a male subject on Cole Street who told officers that he had been gone for surgery for three days and when he returned to his residence, he saw that his car had been keyed and it looked like water had been poured on the front seat.
