Gustave ‘Gus’ Schram, 78, formerly of Ringle, died unexpectedly on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King.
He was born on April 3, 1938 in Ringle, the son of the late Gustave and Bertha (Luetschwager) Schram.
Gus was a United States Marine Corps veteran serving from 1955 to 1958. He worked as a pattern maker at Marathon Electric for many years until his retirement. Gus also worked at Murray Machinery for a short time. Pitching horseshoes was a large part of his life. In 1999, Gus and Randy Rein won the Wisconsin State Doubles Championship. Gus used his gift as a pattern maker to invent and develop the “Ringle Single” horseshoe. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include two children, Valli (Keith) Sickler, DePere and Wade (Jennifer) Schram, Wittenberg; seven grandchildren, Ryan and Samantha Sickler, Dustyn Smith, Tyler and Ashley Weller and Jacob and Kaylee Schram; one sister, Eleanor (Dick) Lapp, Land O’Lakes and one nephew, Rick (Nancy) Lapp, Iron River, MI.
Gus was preceded in death by his parents, and former wife, Shirley Schram.
The funeral service will be held at 11AM on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg. Chaplain Ken Heinritz will officiate. Interment will be in Forestville Cemetery, town of Easton, Marathon County. Visitation will be on Friday from 9am until the time of service at the funeral home.
