Play & Learn January 19th 9:30-11am N4013 Hwy. 45, Antigo. Play & Learn is a weekly play group program for parents, caregivers and children from birth to age 5. Staff will provide a parent lesson, an activity for parents and children to do together. The activity will build skills for school readiness and milestone achievement. Quarterly Ages and Stages questionnaires are made available to parents and caregivers to assist families in helping their children to reach age based development milestones. 53rd Annual Amsoil World Championship Snowmobile Derby January 19th-22nd 10am Eagle River Derby Track, 1311 N Railroad St., Eagle River. The world’s premier snowmobile racing event. 1400-plus entries compete for oval & sno-cross championships in front of 30,000 spectators. Considered the sport’s signature event, the Derby Championship is one of the largest gatherings of “sledders” in the world. Thursday evening features time trials, Friday night features “Friday Night Thunder”, Saturday features grueling heats, quarter & semi-finals all leading up to the Championship Finals on Sunday. Open Skate January 20th 11:30am-1pm Langlade County Hockey Arena, 1633 Neva Road, Antigo. The Antigo Area Youth Hockey Association, in collaboration with the City of Antigo Park & Rec Department, offer FREE open skates throughout the year at the Langlade County Multi-Purpose Building. The Open Skates are FREE with the donation of a canned good. There is a limited supply of skates available for use (these are free, but must be returned at the end of the skate).

Disc Golf Ice Bowl Tournament January 21st 8am-10pm Jack Lake Campground, N8375 Park Road, Deerbrook. The Antigo Disc Golf Club will be having a disc golf tournament to raise money for the Antigo Community Food Pantry. The events will take place at the Jack Lake Disc Golf Course & the City of Antigo Disc Golf Course. This is a doubles tournament with a fee of $50 per team plus a minimum of 10 non-perishable food items per team. The fee gets you a free Ice Bowl stamped premium disc and a free lunch between rounds. 100% of the profits will go to Antigo Community Food Pantry. White Potato Lake Sportsman’s Club Fishing Derby January 21st 8am-3pm White Potato Lake, Pound. The day’s festivities will take place in an 80’ X 40’ heated tent and include raffles, music, hot lunch and refreshments. Cash prizes will be awarded for the first, second and third largest fish in the walleye, northern, bass, perch, bluegill and crappie categories.

Local professional photographer, Craig Pilecky is offering three classes to those who wish to learn the elements of beginning photography. Class dates are the following Saturdays: Jan 14th, 21st and 28th in the library’s McGinley Room. This is an introduction to DSLR & Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Photography.
