Judith Steenis, 80
Judith Steenis, of Phlox, died Saturday, January 21, 2017 at home under the care of her family. She was 80 years old. She was born on July 15, 1936 in Park Falls, a daughter of Arthur and Marie (Gotz) Lieble.
She was a graduate of Butternut High School with the class of 1954.
She married Carl Elsholtz April 21, 1956 in Butternut. He preceded her in death April 12, 1982.
In 1962 the family moved to Mattoon where she worked at the Wisconsin Veneer and Plywood mill for 20 years. On August 20, 1983 she married Peter Steenis at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mattoon. He preceded her in death on February 13, 2009.
Judy worked at Miller Electric in Appleton from 1984 until retirement in 2008.
She was a member of St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church in Phlox and the Council of Catholic Women.
In her younger years she enjoyed playing the accordian, snowmobiling, bowling, watching stock car races and shooting pool. For many years she enjoyed gardening, attending ceramic classes and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include son, Tim Elsholtz, Antigo; four daughters, Theresa (Richard) Fischer, Birnamwood, Mary (Edward) Artz, Antigo, Sherry (Randy) Wilhelm, Eland, Annie (Mike) DeBroux, Mattoon; eleven grandchildren Dustin Elsholtz, Brandon (Jessica) Fischer, Benjamin (Anita) Fischer, Cassie Fischer and fiancee Kyle, Rebecca (Robert) DeDominicis, Jill Artz and Donovan Leaser, Jason Lenzner and fiancee Karen Faye, Trisha (Ryan) White, Chelsea Wilhelm and finacee Andy, Katie (Wade) Madden, Tyler DeBroux and Kayla Clauss.
17 great-grandchildren; an uncle Frank (Lil) Lieble, Wisconsin Rapids; an aunt Evie Guckenberg; a brother-in-law Fred (Char) Steenis; a sister-in-law Barb Steenis; also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husbands she was perceded in death by a brother, Jon Lieble; a brother-in-law Bob Steenis.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday January 27, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church, Phlox with Rev. Charles Hoffmann and Deacon Tom Hartman officiating. Burial will take place in Holy Family Cemetery, Mattoon.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Bradley Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. until the time of services on Friday at the church. A parish wake service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
