For the Antigo Times

The Antigo Penguins Swim Club, along with Rhinelander, Lakeland, Phillips, Tomahawk, Merrill and Medford competed in the East Divisionals meet held in Phillips this past weekend. The 10 and under age group competed on Saturday, January 28th. Participating swimmers included Tristin Arlen, Shambo Wienke, Molly Neufeld, Mya Burt, Zone Wienke, Tre Wienke, Kemal Wienke, Gordon Lucht, Nolan Lucht, Evelyn Lucht, Chloe Tainter, Holland Tainter, Layla Tainter, Brion Koszarek, Lauren Lenzner, Zander Reetz, Rutger Busse and Lola Evans.

The 11 and older group competed on Sunday, January 29th. Participating swimmers included Heather Arlen, Ella Wienke, Sanya Wienke, Ryan Zima, Karl Busse, Myah Bolder, Morgan Rank, Emily Gravitter, Grace Baginski, Sydney Meidl, Alyssa Tincher, Meredith Meidl and Maggie Baginski. The top nine in each individual event and the top six relay teams qualified for Conference which will be held in Rice Lake this weekend.

The swimmers received great instruction and support from coaches Janelle Bolder and Austin Arlen.

Mya Burt, age nine, broke the age 9-10 club record in the 50Y Butterfly with a time of 37.57. Zone Wienke, 8, broke the eight and under club record in the 50Y Freestyle with a time of 37.11. He also broke his own club record in the 25Y Breaststroke with a time of 21.24.

Qualifying for Midwest Regionals (denoted by * ) were Heather Arlen, Mya Burt, Zone Wienke and Tristin Arlen.
