For the Antigo Times

The National FFA Organization, formerly known as Future Farmers of America, is a youth organization of more than 540,000 student members in nearly 7,500 local FFA chapters across all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.

The Antigo chapter of the youth program has been busy lately, participating in speaking competitions, exploring Northeast Wisconsin and receiving donations.

Antigo FFA Receives WIX Filter Donation

Members of the Antigo FFA chapter recently received a donation of approximately 1,100 Wix Filters. The filter collection was organized by Town of Three Lakes foreman Brian Slizewski and Auto Value of Eagle River.

WIX Filters, a global manufacturer of filtration products, has awarded over $35,000 to national FFA chapters in the United States through a box-top redemption program in partnership with the National FFA Organization. Between January and April 2017, students can redeem WIX box tops for a donation from WIX of 25 cents per box top.

FFA Alumni Sponsors Trip for Local Chapter

On Monday, February 20th, approximately 30 Antigo FFA members had the opportunity to travel to Northeast Wisconsin for a career tour day. The first stop of the day was at Tidy View Dairy in Kaukauna. Tidy View is one of the farms owned by Milksource. The students had the opportunity to tour the dairy and see a large milking parlor. The students also got to stop by the genetics barn and see some of the best dairy cows in the world. The next stop of the day was Titletown Brewery in Green Bay. Students had the opportunity to try fresh root beer and learn some of the ingredients and steps in production. The final stop of the day before going back to high school was lunch at the Titletown Brewery Restaurant. The trip was made possible through a donation from the Brandt Family and the Antigo FFA Alumni.
