High speed chase earlier this week tied to child sex bust

Gene Schneider, 52, of Albany, Wis., was charged in Langlade County Circuit Court Thursday with using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, child enticement-sexual assault, causing a child to view/listen to a sex act and vehicle operator flee/elude officer. All charges have an offense date of Wednesday, April 5.

Schneider was involved in an high-speed chase on Wednesday after being initially stopped by members of the Langlade County Sheriff’s Office and then taking off. Reaching speeds of up to 120 mph, the chase went through parts of Langlade and Lincoln counties before eventually ending near Maple Ridge Road near Mosinee.

Schneider will have an initial appearance regarding his child sex crimes on April 10.
