The Antigo Lady Robins traveled to Medford on Tuesday evening, blanking the Raiders 9-0 as starting pitcher Allison Kondzela shined in a complete game performance.
Kondzela picked up the shutout win having given up just two hits on the evening, a night in which she retired ten Medford batters on strikeouts.
Kendall Smith scored in the first inning on a Kondzela double, providing the only run for either team until the fourth inning. In the top of the fifth, singled from Smith and Abi Fleischman and a string of walks by Raider pitcher Hailee Clausnitzer helped Antigo pile on four runs, giving the Lady Robins a 6-0 lead entering the sixth.
Clausnitzer felt the pressure of the Antigo bats, allowing six runs on six hits. Antigo recorded 10 hits as the Lady Robins cruised to a GNC win.
Kondzela was 2-3 from the plate with a double, triple, and a run scored and batted in. Fleischman and Lizzy West each went 2-4, combining for three RBIs and two runs scored.
“Allison was strong with 10 strikeouts, two walks and two hits in a wet and windy game,” Coach Sandi Robrecht commented. “We took advantage of the opportunities given to us. Lizzy West did a great job managing the game behind the plate and also hit well. Kondzela had a big triple. Liv Weix had great patience [in her] at-bats when we needed them and made some good plays in center. Abi Fleischman is swinging a solid bat for us right now.”
The Lady Robins host the Rhinelander Hodags at Lake Park in Antigo tomorrow evening starting at 5 PM.
