Margaret Baxter, 96
Margaret Baxter, of Antigo, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Aspirus Langlade Hospital. She was 96 years old. She was born on February 9, 1921 in Antigo, a daughter of Frank and Barbara (Wahleithner) Baxter.
Miss Baxter lived in Fargo North Dakota from 1950-1979 where she worked as a housekeeper for 18 years for Dr. Robert Jorhein. She lived in Grand Rapids Michigan from 1979-1983 and returned to Antigo in 1983 to care for and be close to her Aunt Catherine Wahleitner. Margaret was very active in the church’s she belonged too in each of the communities where she lived.
She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Antigo.
Survivors include a niece Barbara (Don) Hamann and a nephew Bob Strnad all of Wyoming, Michigan; several great-nieces and nephews; and close friends, Joyce and Tom McGrath of Antigo.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Agnes (Bernard) Strand and Catherine (Jimmy) Strand; a brother, Raymond Baxter.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery.
Visitation will be in the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
