Near the corner of 5th Ave and Field Street, at approximately 12:35 PM on Thursday, May 4th, an SUV struck the side of a white, Chevy sedan that slid in front of Boettcher’s Bar after being pushed up onto the sidewalk. The SUV slid towards the south side of 5th Ave when the driver was able to stop their vehicle on the sidewalk without causing further damage and avoiding the nearby buildings and sidewalk obstructions.

The driver of the Chevy was lying on the ground after the accident and was placed on a stretcher once multiple law enforcement and EMS personnel arrived on scene. The driver of the SUV that had stopped further west on 5th Ave near the bridge over Spring Brook remained in their vehicle until emergency services arrived and was later placed on a stretcher.

Both drivers were taken to Aspirus Langlade Hospital and Flight for Life helicopter had been called in.

The injuries and causes have since to be updated.
