Joan G. Donohue Braun
Joan G. Donohue Braun, age 83, of Antigo passed away Thursday, May 25th at Aspirus Langlade Hospital.
Joan was born in Antigo on June 26, 1933 to the late John and Dorothy (Kubs) Hanousek. On March 2, 1957 Joan was united in marriage to Dr. John Donohue. He preceded her in death in 1982. On December 1, 1990 Joan was united in marriage to Fred Braun who preceded her in death in 1996.
Joan was a lifelong resident of Antigo. She graduated from Antigo High School in 1951 and then from Marquette School of Nursing in 1955.
She was a homemaker and also worked as a Registered Nurse in the OB department at Langlade Hospital.
She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed swimming. She was a member St. John Catholic church where she was also a member of the Rosary Society, chairperson of the First Friday committee, distributed communion to homebound members, and was a member of the Sunday Coffee and Donuts committee. Joan also volunteered throughout the community providing blood pressure screenings, delivering meals on wheels, and serving on the Aspirus Langlade Hospital Community Health Foundation Board and the Friends of the Antigo Public Library Board.
Joan is survived by 2 daughters, Mary Yarie of Antigo and Beth (Eric) Wagner of DePere, a sister, Sister Aurelia Hanousek of St. Francis Convent in Manitowoc, stepchildren, Leslie (Ralph) Frye of Virginia and Dr. Fredric Braun (Maureen) of Bellingham, WA, 8 grandchildren, Shawna and Josh Donohue, Megan, Emily, Nicholas and Jordan Yarie, Madeline and Daniel Wagner, 3 great grandchildren, many step grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, John and Fred, she was preceded in death by a son Matthew, a brother John, 3 sisters, Eunice Lundee, Margaret Elaine Reilly, and Mary Listle.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 12:00 noon at St. John Catholic Church. Father Charles Hoffmann will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM in Hoffmann Hall of St. John Catholic Church.
Interment will be in Queen of Peace Cemetery.
A memorial in Joan’s name will be established for St. John Catholic Church.
