For the Antigo Times

Mission † Antigo is excited to announce that Antigo Community Church, Peace Lutheran Church, and The Well, in co-operation with Thrivent Builds/Repairs and Langlade County Habitat for Humanity are currently into their 2nd year of Mission † Antigo, held from June 10-17 right here in your backyard.

Volunteer activities could include weeding, raking, trash removal, installing a raised garden bed, and other similar outdoor projects. Additionally, through Thrivent Builds/Repairs grants of more than $12,500 and a partnership with the City of Antigo’s Arbor Day activities, Mission † Antigo will be working directly with the city on both large and small home improvement projects.

Just recently, the Langlade County AVAIL organization was a recipient of the Mission † Antigo team’s help:

“This morning we looked at a tree in front of the shelter that needed to be removed & a list of needs was started. Ten minutes later the Mission Antigo Group called to say they’d be by this morning to lend a hand. We did not ask, but somehow they knew ” Michelle Arrowood, Executive Director of AVAIL commented. On Tuesday, a dozen volunteers from Peace Lutheran Church, Antigo Community Church, & the Wells Church came out to weed, trim, clean, and make the green spaces of the shelter more beautiful. They also assisted.with repairs to the shelter’s wheelchair ramp thresholds to make them smoother for our residents that need a hand. “This group came in with such love and enthusiasm that it was a gift beyond measure. We are so grateful for all they have done for us today!” added Arrowood

If you would like to participate by volunteering, please go to our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/missionantigo/ or call Antigo Community Church for information.

The organization is looking to grow off of its success from last year. As a collaboration of local churches, Mission † Antigo is looking to continue to grow in volunteers and projects after impacting more than 25 homes with more than 75 volunteers in 2016. The goal of Mission † Antigo is to show the love of Jesus Christ right here in our neighborhood by helping with these home improvement projects.

If you are looking for an opportunity to serve in our community or are in need of project assistance, Mission † Antigo encourages your feedback. Please visit them on Facebook or call the Antigo Community Church at 715.627.2805 to volunteer.
