William “Bill” S. Kennedy, 92
William “Bill” Scott Kennedy of Long Lake died Saturday, June 10, 2017, at the age of 92, at the Evergreen Terrace.
Bill was born on February 9, 1925 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin to the late Scott P. Kennedy and Helen (Green) Kennedy.
Bill graduated from high school and enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17. He served in the South Pacific during World War II as a Machinist’s Mate First Class. He then married Harriette Ann Shade in Janesville, Wisconsin on August 24, 1949.
Bill grew up in Waukesha and raised his family as well as worked as a carpenter there. Throughout his life he enjoyed time at Long Lake with his family and later retired there. Bill was an avid fisherman and enjoyed golfing. He was a member of Bass Lake Country Club, The Elks Club, both in Waukesha and later in Antigo. He served as a Tiler for the Elks club and received an Elk of the year award. He was a member of St. Ambrose Episcopalian Church in Antigo.
Bill is survived by his son Scott Kennedy of Fort Walton Beach, FL, his daughter, Tracy (James) Murphy of Milwaukee, his son John (Smidge) Kennedy of Marshfield, MO. Four grandchildren, Josh Kennedy, Perry (Miranda) Kennedy, Jacob (Jana) Goodman, Molly Murphy, and Sean Murphy, a great grandchild Jaylee Kennedy, and a great grandnephew Jake Goodman. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bill is preceded in death by his sister Shirley, bothers Leslie Kennedy and Irving Kennedy.
A memorial service for Bill will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at St. Ambrose Episcopalian Church in Antigo. A visitation will also take place at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
