Charles “Bud” Volm, 90
Charles “Bud” Arnold Volm died Friday, July 21, 2017 at his home in Antigo under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. He was 90 years old.
He was born November 5, 1926 in Bryant, son of the late Paul and Mary (Jones) Volm. He was united in marriage to Judy Tibbetts, and she preceded him in death in 2003.
Bud served in the US Army in World War II.
After his time in the service, he worked as a printer for the US Government in Washington DC. Locally, he was employed as a printer at Volm Bag, Antigo Daily Journal, Shopper’s Guide, and Clermont Printing. He also worked as a bartender at Leffel’s, Blackjack, Stimac’s, and owned and operated the Country Inn in Bryant. More recently, he was a driver for Antigo Vans.
Bud was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. He also belonged to the Antigo VFW Post 2653. He was a private pilot, and enjoyed his time flying. A special joy in his life was spending time with his great-grandchildren.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Vicki Volm of Wausau, Dawn (Steve) Campbell of Summit Lake, and DeAnna (Rick) Lutzow of Antigo; 2 sons, Charles “Chuck” (Mary) Volm of Stevens Point, and Tim (Carol) Fraley of Hermitage, TN; 12 grandchildren, Magan Rzymek, Amanda Yenter, Ricky (Katie) Campbell, Kristen (Trevor) Pyle, Lindley Hummer, Morgan (Logan) Combs, David Volm, Aaron Volm, Jon Fraley, Michael Cable, Robyn Fraley, and Heather Fraley; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Rick Fraley, along with Rick’s wife and daughter Linda and Samantha Fraley, 2 additional sons, Todd Fraley, and Pete Fraley; 3 sisters, Dorothy “Dutch” Nelson, Lorraine “Beano” Fredin, and Pat Fredin; and 3 brothers, Dan, Gerald, and Carroll Volm.
A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 26 at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery.
