Antigo Police & Langlade County Sheriff Reports for 8/7/17
ANTIGO POLICE REPORTS
Monday, July 24th
10:44AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on 5th Avenue reporting a lock cut-off on a meter at a residence on Virginia Street. The caller told officers that a lock was put on 6/15/17. In the meantime, the customer had paid up the bill, but didn’t pay the reconnection fee. Officers talked with the female resident, who admitted that they cut the lock off. The male resident was cited for theft. The reconnection fee was later paid.
5:25 PM Officers stopped a vehicle 5th Avenue and Lincoln Street. The driver was cited for operating without a license. They were also given a written warning for non-registration.
7:10 PM Officers were checking on smoke coming from behind a house on Irving Street. A male subject was assisting in a cleanup process. He was burning items against regulation and ordinance. A member of the Antigo Fire Department responded and requested an engine due to the size of the fire. The fire was put out. The male subject was to be cited.
Tuesday, July 25th
12:57 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at Superior Street and 6th Avenue. The driver was cited for operating after suspension, operating after registration suspended and an expired registration. They were also given written warnings for an obstructed front view and no proof of insurance.
9:41 AM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that a vehicle that was westbound on 10th Avenue hit the curb and almost struck a child. The vehicle then continued to Virginia Street and then turned around and headed back towards town. The caller told officers that the driver appeared to be an elderly female who pulled over on 10th Avenue with her blinkers on, but never turned into the driveway. The vehicle was described as light blue or teal in color. Officers arrested the female driver for operating while intoxicated, 1st offense.
2:14 PM Officers responded to a call from an area banking institution on 6th Avenue reporting that they just received 2 counterfeit $20 bills with Chinese symbols on them. The bills ended up to be 2 – $100 bills with the Chinese symbols. An area business on Superior Street had brought the bills in. Officers talked with the area business. The bills were placed into evidence.
3:33 PM Officers responded to a call from a male on Lincoln Street reporting that someone took a check of his and cashed it. It was cashed at an area banking institution by a male subject. The male subject was referred for theft and forgery.
6:23 PM Officers received a call from a male reporting that another male subject had reported his truck stolen about a week ago. The caller told officers that before he reported it stolen, the male subject caused $8,000 worth of damage to a field and some people’s yards in the city of Antigo. The caller also told officers that he thought that the male subject was high on drugs at the time. The male subject was from Marathon county. Officers were advised.
8:19 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that a black Ford F150 was fish tailing and driving too fast around corners on 5th Avenue. She gave officers the license plate number. Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke with the male driver. He told officers that he may have hit the gas a little hard, but he did not think that he had fish-tailed. Officers advised him to be more careful in the future.
9:03 PM A female subject came to the Safety Building to report that some windows at a residence on 1st Avenue were broken.
10:55 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and Willard Avenue. The driver was given a written warning for speed.
11:50 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that two male subjects ran through her house on Deleglise Street, entering through the back door and running out of the front door. She told officers that her boyfriend was home at the time and witnessed it. They both stated that they didn’t recognize the male subjects. They told officers that they just moved into the home last weekend, and she was not sure if the landlord had changed the locks. They were going to contact the landlord about getting them changed.
Wednesday, July 26th
2:08 AM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that 4 to 5 people were yelling at each other outside at an address on Edison Street. The caller told officers that they could hear someone yelling about pills. A male and female subject got into a verbal argument about some missing change and medication. Another male subject decided to get involved and ended up wrestling with the other male subject. During the fighting, a female bystander was accidentally hit in the mouth and a pill bottle broke in the male subject’s pocket and pills scattered in the driveway. The first female subject started to recover the pills and told officers that they belonged to her daughter. The first male subject took off running through the back yard before officers arrived. That male subject was cited for disorderly conduct.
9:40 AM Officers responded a call from a female on S. Hudson Street reporting that a late model black Suburban was driving up and down the street taking pictures. The caller told officers the vehicle had been by 3 or 4 times already. The vehicle was last seen about 20 minutes before officers arrived. Officers told the caller to notify them if the vehicle came by again.
11:33 AM Officers responded to a two vehicle accident on Neva Road. Vehicle 2 was southbound on Neva Road in the inside lane. Vehicle was exiting a parking lot. The driver of Vehicle 1 said that she didn’t see any vehicles when she attempted a left turn. Vehicle 2 struck Vehicle 1 in the passenger side rear door and rear fender area. Vehicle 2 sustained damage to the driver’s front fender & bumper area. There were no injuries.
12:49 PM A male subject was cited for the theft of library materials worth $71.90.
12:52 PM A female subject was cited for theft of library materials worth $37.94
12:53 PM A male subject was cited for theft of library materials worth $68.96.
2:55 PM Officers responded to a call from an employee of an area business on Superior Street reporting that a male subject just used a counterfeit $100 bill with Chinese symbols on it. She told officers that she could identify the subject. Officer found out that the male subject had not actually tried to use the bill, but the business had possession of it.
3:28 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Hwy. 64 reporting that they had two juvenile subjects detained for shoplifting. They were not being cooperative. The subjects were cited for retail theft.
6:01 PM Officers spotted a female subject with outstanding warrants at the Langlade County fair. The female subject was arrested on 2 Langlade County Sheriff’s office warrants. She was transported to jail.
Thursday, July 27th
5:29 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at 5th Avenue and Eckart Street. The driver was cited for speed. A traffic education pamphlet was distributed.
3:25 PM A male subject came to the Safety Building to report that he had been getting calls from a New York number that had something to do with the police in New York. Officers advised the male that it was a scam and they would keep the information on file.
10:38 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and Willard Avenue. The driver was cited for speed.
11:15 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Superior Street and 1st Avenue. The driver was cited for speed.
11:33 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Superior Street and Badger Avenue. The driver was given a written warning for speed.
Friday, July 28th
12:59 AM Officers responded to a large fight at an area business on Edison Street. Two male subjects were arrested for disorderly conduct.
2:17 AM Officers responded to a 911 call from a male at an area business on Edison Street reporting that a male subject was outside in the back parking lot bleeding a lot. He told officers that he may have been struck by a vehicle. There were several witnesses. A possible female suspect was named. The female suspect was arrested for hit & run causing injury. At 3:34 AM The male subject was reported deceased by the hospital.
12:01 PM Officers received a call from a male subject reporting that he was exiting the parking lot of an area business on Hwy. 64 when a white vehicle, which looked like an Impala, rear-ended him. He told officers that there was only a scrape on the back bumper, but the female driver of the white vehicle just drove off after giving him a “funny look.” The caller gave officers the license plate number. He told officers that the incident had occurred at about 11:30 AM. He just wanted the information on file.
5:17 PM Officers responded to a call from a female on Watson Street reporting that her son’s Power Wheels Jeep was stolen from their front yard. It was last seen at around 5:00 PM on 7/27/17. She noticed it was missing at 7:00 AM that morning. It was described as brownish in color. There were no suspects.
5:40 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at 5th Avenue and Morse Street. The driver was cited for failure to fasten their seatbelt.
7:13 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Edison Street and Martin Street. The male driver was cited for failure to fasten their seatbelt and was given a written warning for failure to carry a driver’s license.
7:45 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Superior Street and Forrest Avenue. The male driver was given a written warning for failure to obey a signal.
9:37 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Hwy. 45 and Industrial Park Road. The driver was cited for no proof of insurance and was given a written warning for speed.
10:10 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Superior Street and 3rd Avenue. The driver was given a written warning for speed, a written warning for an expired driver’s license and was cited for no proof of insurance.
11:27 PM Officers stopped a vehicle on S. Superior Street. The driver was given a written warning for no tail lights and was verbally warned about an expired registration.
11:49 PM Officers stopped a vehicle on Hwy. 64, just east of Pioneer Road. The driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 1st offense.
11:57 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and Washington Avenue. The driver was given a written warning for a defective headlight.
Saturday, July 29th
2:57 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at 10th Avenue and Superior Street. The driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 1st offense. They were also cited for open intoxicants and unsafe lane deviation.
7:19 AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on 5th Avenue reporting that the previous morning, a young man came into the business and was acting strangely. He left his bike behind. Officers took the bike to the impound.
8:14 AM Officers responded to several reports of a male subject lying on a front lawn in front of a residence on Clermont Street. It was a very intoxicated minor male subject. He was transported to the hospital by the Antigo Fire Department. He was not very cooperative with officers. He was cited for juvenile alcohol.
8:57 AM The landlord of a residence on 1st Avenue came to the Safety Building to report a break-in. He told officers that a lot of prescription drugs had been taken from the home.
6:26 PM Officers responded to a report of a missing female subject from Crandon. Officers were told that she was dropped off at an address in Antigo on 7/26/17 and was seen by someone leaving the fair, just before she was reported missing. Officers made contact with the Forest County Sheriff’s office and they checked the fairgrounds area.
8:20 PM Officers stopped a vehicle on Neva Road. The driver was given a written warning for speed.
9:00 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and Amron Avenue. The driver was given a written warning for speed.
9:59 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Superior Street and 5th Avenue. The driver was given a written warning for speed.
10:15 PM Officers stopped a vehicle on S. Superior Street. The male driver was cited driving after revocation.
10:27 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and Kelly Street. The driver was given a written warning for speed.
11:01 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and Badger Avenue. The driver was given a written warning for speed.
11:43 PM Officers responded to a call from female employee at an area business on 5th Avenue reporting that a female subject came in to the business, hit three customers and her. She then walked out of the business. She was described as being a heavier build and wearing a black tank top and shorts. Officers located the female subject hiding behind some bushes behind another area business. She was arrested for disorderly conduct.
11:49 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at 5th Avenue and Edison Street. The driver was given a written warning for a defective tail lamp.
Sunday, July 30th
12:50 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at Superior Street and 1st Avenue. The driver was cited for speed.
6:24 AM Officers responded to a call from a male subject reporting that he hit a sign in front of an area business on Neva Road. Officers sent a message to the Street Department about the sign. A state report was filed.
5:30 PM Officers responded to a report of a two vehicle accident at 5th Avenue and Superior Street. The two vehicles collided at the intersection. Property damage only.
10:57 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and Kelly Street. The driver was cited for speed.
11:16 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Century Avenue and Saratoga Street. The driver was given a written warning for failure to stop at a stop sign.
Monday, July 31st
12:10 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and Willard Avenue. The driver was given a written warning for a defective tail light.
2:08 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at 2nd Avenue and Virginia Street. The female driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 3rd offense and bail jumping. She was also cited for operating while suspended. A male passenger was cited for obstructing and open intoxicants.
3:48 AM Officers responded to a report of a male subject urinating outside of an area business on Edison Street. The male subject was cited for public urination.
4:18 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at an area business on S. Superior Street. The driver was cited for operating without a license.
5:57 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at Mendlik Avenue and Edison Street. The driver was cited for speed.
LANGLADE COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTS
Wednesday, July 26th
5:19 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that a brown/gray Pontiac Aztek with bumper stickers on the back crossed the road and struck her mailbox, demolishing it. The vehicle then continued eastbound. While still on the phone with officers, the caller said that the vehicle came back going westbound. The caller told officers that the vehicle was driven by a female subject wearing a white shirt. She gave officers the license plate number. The female then called officers back saying that the vehicle was at an area business in Elcho. The caller said that the female subject was highly intoxicated and she confronted her, telling her that law enforcement was on the way. Officers determined that the female subject was not intoxicated. She was written for re-exam. A state report was filed.
Thursday, July 27th
1:26 AM Officers attempted a traffic stop at Hwy. 55 and Hwy. 52 on a white Chrysler Aspen with two male subjects. The vehicle fled and officers were in pursuit. Officers lost sight of the vehicle. The pursuit was terminated.
9:55 AM Officers responded to a call from a female on Cty. Rd. A reporting that she had purchased the house and found some old explosives. Officers sent a teletype to the Marathon County Bomb Squad. Officers located possibly up to 50 lbs. of dynamite in a container. The bomb squad soaked the dynamite in diesel overnight to neutralize the explosives. On 7/28/17, the bomb squad returned to attempt transport and disposal of the explosives.
2:40 PM Officers responded to a call from a Wisconsin Public Service employee reporting that their meter electrician went to a residence on Cty. Rd. Z and discovered that the doors were kicked in and there was damage inside. Officers contacted the owner. The owner was last at the residence on 7/17/17. Officers talked with the WPS employee who said that the meter stopped reading at approximately 11:00 PM on 7/19/17. Officers took photos and tried to secure the location.
9:06 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting a large barn fire on Angle Road. The barn was on fire upon officers’ arrival and support beams were being pulled out by a male subject on a tractor. Officers found out that the barn was being demolished by the owner who had removed all of the siding, shingles & windows prior to starting the fire. Rural Fire Control arrived at the scene and advised the male subject that the building needed to be demolished prior to burning the building as well as acquiring the proper permits from the DNR.
Saturday, July 29th
3:34 PM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that his cabin on Hwy. 55 was broken into. The front door was kicked in and all of the cupboard doors were open. It was broken into sometime between 7/5/17 and 7/29/17. The cable was cut on the gate and left open. Photos & measurements were taken. The only known item missing was a tackle box with items in it worth about $100.
5:35 PM Officers responded to a call from a male on Gardner Dam Road reporting that a male subject in his mid-late 20’s wandered up from the river and had no idea who he was, except he was from Green Bay and was rafting with some friends. The caller told officers that the male subject had a gash on his nose and was only wearing swim trunks. He had no identification on him. The caller later updated officers that the male subject told him his first name. EMTs were called. Officers were able to find out that the male subject had not been getting along with another male subject while rafting and got out of the river at Gardner Dam. The EMTs gave the male subject a ride.
6:16 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting lots of black smoke northeast of the intersection of Cty. Rd. I and Cty. Rd.V. Officers arrived at an address on Hill Road and observed a male subject burning some unknown debris. The male subject showed officers his valid burning permit, but officers advised him that it may still be illegal depending on what he was burning. He told officers that he was burning an old camper. Officers showed the male subject on his burn permit where it was illegal to burn campers. The information was forwarded to the DNR.
6:46 PM Officers responded to a call from the fair office reporting that one of the ticket booths had taken a counterfeit bill. They told officers that they had a picture of the female subject. Upon the officers’ arrival, they were notified that the female subject was nearby. Officers made contact with her. She refused to identify herself and attempted to walk away. Officers placed her in handcuffs. She then began resisting and trying to break free. She was transported to Corrections. Officers later determined that the female subject was 13 years old and Langlade Juvenile Intake was contacted. The female subject was referred for obstructing, battery to law enforcement and uttering forgery. She was also cited for juvenile alcohol.
11:49 PM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that a vehicle went into the ditch at Hwy. 52 and Cty. Rd. V. When the caller stopped and asked if the subjects in the vehicle were ok, 3 male subjects fled on foot. Officers located the vehicle in the ditch at the intersection. The vehicle had collided with a tree and had significant front end damage. The caller told officers that the subjects fled north on Hwy. V, along the tree line. Officers were able to locate 2 Hispanic male subjects lying face down in some tall grass. Officers were unable to locate the third male subject. The other 2 male subjects denied that there was a 3rd subject, but they also both denied driving the vehicle. Officers noticed a heavy presence of alcohol. Both males were given a sobriety test. Both male subjects were arrested for obstructing. It was later determined that one of the male subjects also had three warrants out for his arrest. A state report was filed. The vehicle was towed.
Sunday, July 30th
3:51 AM Officers stopped a vehicle on Hwy. 55. The driver was arrested for operating after revocation, operating a vehicle with a prohibited alcohol content, 3rd offense and a probation hold.
Monday, July 31st
2:39 PM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that a smaller, silver car struck a semi on Hwy.64 between Hafemeister Lane and Hwy. 52, but continued eastbound on Hwy. 64 as did the semi. The caller thought that the semi driver may not have known that he was hit. The car then turned south on N. Langlade Road. The caller told officers that the bumper of the car and some other car parts were left at the scene. Officers stopped the vehicle at Cty. Rd. F and Cty. Rd. AA. The driver and passenger were cited.
4:34 PM Officers responded to a call from a female on N. Stoney Road reporting that a suspicious vehicle was on their property stealing wood. Her neighbor also said that they had thrown a bundle of clothes and other stuff out of the trunk. The vehicle was described as a beat up red/burgundy car. There was a female and a male subject in their mid to late 30’s. Officers arrested the male subject for theft and a probation hold. He was also cited for trespassing. The female subject was referred for theft.
5:19 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that a very intoxicated 50 to 60 year old male subject at White Lake Beach was making rude and inappropriate comments to children. The caller said that his walker was in the water and he had fallen a couple of times. Officers cited the male subject for disorderly conduct.
7:40 PM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that a small blue car was in the ditch on the south side of Hwy. 64, east of Ackley Road, in the south ditch. The caller told officers that a young male subject was standing by the car. Officers also received a call from a towing company about the accident. There was no damage.
Tuesday, August 1st
10:38 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at E. Hollister Road and Hwy. 55. A male subject was arrested on an Outagamie County warrant.
Wednesday, August 2nd
8:21 AM Officers responded to a call from a female subject on N. Rollwood Road reporting that she was struck by a milk truck while backing up in her driveway at her residence. The milk truck was not there upon the officers’ arrival. Officers would be following up with the milk truck driver.
