Fairgrounds Promotional Committee request public input on long term plan for the Fairgrounds
For the Antigo Times
The Langlade County Fairgrounds is owned and operated for the public’s use and enjoyment. It is the responsibility of the Fairgrounds Promotional Committee to promote and market the use of the Fairgrounds.
The Fairgrounds Promotional Committee is engaged in the development of a long-term plan for the Fairgrounds and seeks the public’s input on how to improve the use of the Fairgrounds over the next 10 years. For example, one of the questions that the Committee has been struggling with is what to do with the racetrack at the Fairgrounds. Each year the County incurs expenses associated with the maintenance of the racetrack, while the actual use of the racetrack has steadily declined.
The Committee has been surveying event attendees and has been meeting regularly with fairgrounds users to find out how the County can help improve the facilities and/or improve the process of renting the fairgrounds. The Committee has acted upon many of these suggestions, including: making Wi-Fi available at the fairgrounds, creating a fairgrounds website with an event calendar, and establishing a sanitation policy for food preparation during events.
Please contact Pam Jankowski, Fairgrounds Event Coordinator, at the Maintenance Department if you would like to share your comments and recommendations for consideration by the Fairgrounds Promotional Committee as it develops a long-term plan for the Fairgrounds and given the limited use of the racetrack, the Committee questions what has been working diligently to make the experience of renting the fairgrounds, one that is “user-friendly”.
The Fairgrounds Promotional Committee hopes that through its efforts the experience of attending and/or hosting events at the fairgrounds will be enjoyed by all for years to come. More information about the Fairgrounds is available on the County’s website at www.co.langlade.wi.us/Fairgrounds.htm or by contacting the Committee’s Secretary, Pam Jankowski, at 715 627-6307.
