Gertrude E. Beran, 85, Birnamwood, died on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born on March 6, 1932 in the town of Harrison, Marathon County, the daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (Fleischman) Zimmerman, the youngest of 12 children.
On October 25, 1958, Gertrude was united in marriage to Joseph Beran at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Antigo. He preceded her in death on November 5, 2004.
The couple farmed in Birnamwood for many years until their retirement. Gertrude was an active member of St. Philomena Catholic Church, Birnamwood and it’s Altar Society. She enjoyed cooking, baking, dancing and polka music. Gertrude enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include three children, Allan (Vicky) Beran, Michael (Tarrie) Beran and Julie (Tim) Trinko all of Birnamwood; six grandchildren, Jason (Stacey) Beran, Jeremy Beran, Adam and Noah Beran and Brandon and Bradley Trinko; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Clay and many other extended family and friends.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, parents and 11 brothers and sisters, Irvin Zimmerman, Sophie Wild, Dorothy Tomcek, Christina Wild, Ann Selner, Clara Frisch, Alice Frisch, Joe Zimmerman, MaryJane Szews, John Zimmerman and Eugene Zimmerman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Birnamwood. Fr. Charles Hoffmann will officiate. Entombment will be in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Antigo. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9AM until the time of Mass at the church.
