Jerry Lee Demlow, 80
Jerry Demlow of Antigo, age 80, died August 1, 2017.
Jerry was born on April 30, 1937 to the late Alvin and Jeanne (Turney) Demlow. He graduated from Antigo High School in 1955 and then served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958. On April 22, 1961 Jerry married Gale Charles at the 1st Congregational Church of Antigo. Jerry worked as an electrician and general contractor. In his retirement, he became an over the road truck driver for Vern’s Trucking and most recently transported cars for Antigo Auto. He was very active in the Faith United Church of Christ, serving on various committees. Jerry enjoyed the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, watching the Packers and the Brewers. One of Jerry’s hobbies also included crafting hand turned wooden pens.
Jerry was a giving and caring person. He was awarded for his heroic efforts for saving the lives of a group of teens and several adult chaperones in 1972 when their bus was overcome by flood waters on a trip in Rapid City, SD.
In addition to his wife Gale, Jerry is survived by his sons Jeffrey (Ada) Demlow of Newnan, GA, Michael Demlow of Marshfield, WI, and his daughter Kathleen Demlow of Tucson, AZ.
Also surviving are two brothers, Jerry’s twin Larry Dee (Jan Hall) Demlow of Hartford, WI, Tom Demlow of Racine, WI, his sister Ruth Demlow (Floyd) Denee of Long Beach, CA, his step sister Bonnie (Dave) Koudelka of La Crosse, WI, his step brothers John (Connie) Lutz of Burlington, WI, Bill (Susan) Lutz of Sparta, WI, and a brother-in-law Carlton (Nancy) Rudolph of Ironwood, MI.
Surviving grandchildren include: Jacob, Sara Elizabeth, Jonathan Demlow, Kendall and Aaron Bredeson, Michael, Nicholas and Codey Graham, and great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and many, many FRIENDS.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his sister Judy Demlow Rudolph and his step mother Mary Demlow. Also preceding him in death were his very dear in laws Lenore and Frank Charles.
A funeral service for Jerry will be held on Tuesday, August 8th at 12:00 PM at the Faith United Church of Christ with Rev. Dr. Wes A. Jedras officiating the service. A visitation will take place at the church from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM before the service on August 8th. Military honors will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials in Jerry’s name be directed to the roofing fund at Faith United Church of Christ.
