The Antigo High School Soundsport completed their first competition of the season at the the Waukesha North Bandfest on Sunday, September 17th.  The band scored a 54.05 and received a positive opening reaction from the judges.
Soundsport is a marching group that can range anywhere from 7 to 40 members and the performance area is 20 yards deep and 30 yards wide.
Antigo High School will be the first band in the state to pilot the Soundsport concept.  “For many years, Antigo has been known as a group that has provided entertaining and successful shows with a small group”.  The Wisconsin School Music Association is hoping the Soundsport concept can be a great option for small schools with limited budgets, staff and time to get involved in the marching activity.
The next Soundsport event will be the Parents/Community Performance on Saturday, September 30th at 5:30pm at Schofield Stadium.  The Soundsport group will perform and then there will be a special ceremony to recognize the seniors of the group. On Sunday, October 1st the band will travel to Merrill for the Merrill Marching Invitational starting at 1pm.
