Antigo Police & Langlade County Sheriff Reports for 9/25/17
ANTIGO POLICE REPORTS
Monday, September 11th
3:30 PM Officers received a call from a female crossing guard at 7th Avenue and Clermont Street reporting that a gold/silver Ninja crotch rocket with no plates was revving its engine loudly behind a bus and had “whipped the bird” to a bus next to him. The caller told officers that this was the second time she had seen the male subject while on duty. The previous time, he had been revving his engine too. Officers were advised. 9/12/17 Antigo High School called to report that the bike was in their lot. Officers talked with the male student about his driving habits. He told officers that he had only been “flipping off” his friend that was on the bus next to him, not the whole busload of kids.
Tuesday, September 12th
9:44 AM Officers responded to a call from an employee of an area bank reporting that an 80 year old male customer was there trying to transfer over $12,000 to Microsoft. The male subject told officers that he wanted to transfer the money from his savings to his checking to cover a check that he wrote for a service to clear his computer from a virus. Officers knew it was a scam. Officers called the subject that the male had been talking to. He told officers that his business was located in Delaware. Officers were able to retrieve the check before it went out. The check was made out to a female subject in New Jersey. Officers found out that the male subject had previously written out two other checks in this female’s name for a total of $15,000. Officers explained the situation to the male subject.
11:46 PM Officers did a walk-through at an area business on Edison Street. A female subject was arrested for bail jumping and transported to Corrections.
Wednesday, September 13th
10:45 AM Officers responded to a call from a male on 5th Avenue reporting that his staff had been noticing a male subject, in his 30’s, acting strangely. The caller told officers that the male subject could not walk straight and was coming & going from an apartment, driving a black, four door vehicle with purple rims. He also told officers that one of the times that he came outside, he took off his shirt and a knife was sticking out of his pants. A large sword was also seen in his vehicle. Officers stopped the vehicle at Superior Street and 4th Avenue. The male subject told officers that another male subject in a black GTO was trying to provoke him into racing. He also told officers that he was in the process of moving. His vehicle was full of items.
11:02 PM Officers responded to an anonymous report of suspicious activity at Arctic Street and Kaplanek Avenue. The caller told officers that an orange/red car had parked and two male subjects walked east towards the swamp. Then a little while later, a pickup pulled up and parked. One male subject then got out and walked towards the swamp. Officers discovered that the subjects were smoking marijuana in a camper. A male juvenile was referred for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Thursday, September 14th
11:43 AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Hwy. 64 reporting that they were holding a female shoplifter. The female subject was cited and released.
8:53 PM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting suspicious activity going on at an area business on 5th Avenue. The caller stated that a white male subject and an African-American male subject kept going into the bathroom every fifteen minutes. The caller thought that drug activity may be going on. Officers checked the business. They could not find anyone matching that description.
Friday, September 15th
12:17 AM Officers were at a residence on 7th Avenue on a warrant attempt for a female subject. While doing the search, officers found a male subject under a pile of pillows in a closet. The male subject was arrested on a probation hold. Officers were told that the female subject had been at the residence earlier but left.
1:41 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at S. Superior and Freiburger Avenue. A female subject was arrested on a Langlade County Sheriff’s Office warrant and a probation hold. She was also cited for no proof of insurance.
1:40 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Hwy. 64 reporting that they had been informed by their bank that they had a counterfeit $50 bill in their deposit. Officers were able to track down a male and a female subject that admitted to paying for gas and some ibuprofen with the bill. They told officers that they would return to the business and repay the $50. They were given until 9/22/17 to repay the money.
1:51 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that she was just involved in a minor accident in the parking lot of an area business on Neva Road. Vehicle 1 was legally parked. Vehicle 2 was backing up, trying to reposition in the parking spot. The driver’s door of Vehicle 1 opened and Vehicle 2 hooked the door causing damage to the side of Vehicle 2 and bending the door of Vehicle 1.
5:01 PM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting the theft of his bike from an establishment on Clermont Street. Later, the male called back to say that he located his bike in the river on 5th Avenue. Officers viewed security video from the establishment and recognized a male subject that was talking to the male subject who took the bike. Officers talked with this male subject. He admitted to officers that he had told his friend to steal the bike because the reporting person had stolen cigarettes from him. He also told officers that he was the one who threw the bike into the river. Citations were issued.
6:37 PM Officers responded to a call from a female on Pine Street reporting that a small toddler was running through yards with no parents around. The caller also told officers that the child then ran back over by a house on 5th Avenue. Officers talked with a female subject at that residence on 5th Avenue. She stated that the male child was running around, but she had been watching him.
Saturday, September 16th
3:17 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Hwy. 64 reporting a male shoplifter. The male subject had tried to conceal five packages of hamburger and four packages of hot dogs in the basket of his walker. ($45.05 worth) The cashier had spotted the meat in the male subject’s walker and asked him if he was going to pay for it. He did pay for some buns, but then walked out of the store. The male subject was cited and then released.
5:50 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Cty. Rd. Y and Western Avenue. A male subject was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 4th offense.
Sunday, September 17th
6:49 PM A male subject was arrested in front of the Safety Building for battery to a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property and bail jumping.
Monday, September 18th
5:03 AM Officers responded to a 911 call from a male in a Charlotte Street apartment reporting that his neighbor had been banging on the walls for the last two hours. The caller told officers that he tried to make contact with the neighbor who told him to call the police. Officers could hear someone shouting for help. They could see that the subject inside the apartment was down. A forced entry was made and the Antigo Fire Department was paged. An apartment maintenance worker was contacted about damages to the door and drywall.
LANGLADE COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTS
Wednesday, September 13th
2:50 PM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting a vehicle at Hwy. 64 and Cty. Rd. M traveling 65-70 MPH and passing in an unsafe manner. The vehicle was described as a dark colored car with Tennessee license plates. Officers stopped the vehicle. The male driver was given a warning for speed and advised of the complaint.
4:40 PM Officers received an email from a male subject that was a former resident of White Oak Lane reporting that a Smith & Wesson pistol was stolen during an auction held at his former residence on August 24th. The gun was a Smith & Weston M&P .380 semi-automatic. The caller told officers that his wife had been standing by the item nearly the entire auction. There were no suspects.
Thursday, September 14th
12:16 AM Officers were in pursuit of a 2003 black Pontiac Grand Am on Hwy. 55 after trying to stop the vehicle for a minor traffic violation. The chase was terminated at the Langlade County Sheriff’s office line on Hwy. 55. The Menominee County Sheriff’s office was advised of the chase and the reason for the stop. The registered owner of the vehicle had outstanding warrants. The Menominee County Sheriff’s office reported that they had possibly “spiked” the vehicle. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.
3:07 PM Officers received information from the Elcho school district superintendent that someone raised a Confederate flag on the pole in front of the Elcho school between closing on 9/13/17 and 9/14/17. He requested an extra patrol at night and to have an officer walk through the school during the day when possible.
Friday, September 15th
5:10 PM Officers responded to a call from a female stating that she was following a possible intoxicated driver. Officers received a second call reporting that a four door, red Toyota Tacoma had crossed the center line and almost hit a car head on. The vehicle then stopped at the corner of Crestwood Road and Hill Road. The male driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 2nd offense.
Saturday, September 16th
3:00 AM Officers stopped a vehicle on Hwy. 55. One female subject fled on foot. Two other female subjects were detained. Officers then received a call from a female at a residence on Hwy. 55 reporting that she had heard someone walk past her bedroom window. The female subject that fled earlier was located by officers. The homeowners told officers that they had no given anyone permission to be on the property or use their driveway. The female subject that fled was arrested on warrants from the Department of Corrections and the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office. She was also cited for operating while intoxicated, 1st offense, operating without a license, 2nd offense and trespassing. A second female subject was arrested for possession of marijuana and she was cited for trespassing.
4:51 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting an unoccupied vehicle in the ditch on Cty. Rd. Y, almost to the Marathon county line. When officers arrived on the scene, a male subject showed up stating that his father had called him, stating that he was drunk and needed a ride. The male also told officers that he received a call from his father saying he was waiting by the Eau Claire River on Cty. Rd. Y. A witness told officers that he was traveling west on Y and the male driver came around the corner at a high rate of speed and couldn’t make the corner. He watched the male driver get out of the car. He was stumbling. The male driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 4th offense. He was also cited for failure to maintain control and failure to report an accident. A state crash report was completed. The vehicle was towed.
Monday, September 18th
8:52 AM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that the Town of Elcho building on Doc Road was broken into. The male told officers that he found the front door had been broken into, rendering the lock and deadbolt inoperable. He said that he was last at the building on August 28th or 29th. Nothing appeared out of the ordinary or missing. While officers were there, the caller also discovered that the keys to the shed and bathroom were missing. Officers told the male that all of the locks would need to be changed. They also told him to call if he discovered anything else missing.
1:31 PM Officers received a call from a female on Roberts Road reporting that between 9/12/17 and 9/14/17, someone entered her residence and took some clothing, shoes, videos and some other items. She told officers that she first noticed that some items were missing on 9/14/17 and noticed other items missing as the weekend went by. There were no signs of forced entry and all of the window screens were intact. The female told officers that they would get the locks changed and they did not need to come to the residence.
Tuesday, September 19th
8:25 AM An administrator from Spring Valley School came to the Safety Building to report that a male student brought a knife to school on the bus and they would like an officer to speak to the child. The bus driver confiscated the knife and turned it over to school administration. The knife was a black and gold Guidesman with a 3-3 ¼” folding blade. Officers spoke to the 7 year old male about the legality, consequences and safety hazards of bringing a knife to school. He told officers that he didn’t realize that he had a knife in his pocket. The school was disciplining the child.
2:40 PM Officers responded to a report of a two vehicle accident on Hwy. 45 north of Birch Road in the southbound lane. One vehicle was rolled over. The male driver of one vehicle received minor lacerations to his wrist and hand. He was given a correction notice for no proof of insurance. The male driver of the second vehicle was cited for failure to yield the right of way. No parties were transported. The vehicles were towed. A crash report was completed.
