Connie Faye Arrowood, 74
Connie Faye Arrowood went to her heavenly home with her family and friends by her side at her residence in Antigo on Monday, September 25, 2017 under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 74 years old.
She was born in Langlade County on August 4, 1943, daughter of the late Fred and Linda Louise (McIntosh) Oesterreich.
She married Gerald “Pete” Arrowood on August 17, 1963 at Peace Lutheran Church in Antigo. Pete preceded her in death in 1974.
Connie attended Peace Lutheran School, and was a 1961 graduate of Antigo High School. She resided in Milwaukee for a short time after marriage before returning to the Antigo area. She was employed as foodservice manager at Kmart Deli, and she also worked at Stimac’s, Olks Drug Store, Uptown Café, Wagon Wheel, Harvest Inn, Northstar Lanes, and other local businesses.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church for over 50 years, and she was baptized, confirmed, and married at Peace. She was active in the women’s Bible study group, and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
Survivors include her son, Chad Johnson; a sister, Sue (David) Steger of Antigo; a brother, Fred (Mary) Oesterreich of Virginia Beach, VA; a stepsister, Rosemary Derenne of Antigo; a stepbrother, Darrell (Judy) Gilhardt of Racine; special friend Jackie Kamps who took care of Connie; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 2 stepsisters, Loretta Omachinski and Janice Geiger; and 3 stepbrothers, James, William, and Stuart Gilhardt.
A private celebration of life will take place at a later date. Memorials in Connie’s name may be directed to LeRoyer Hospice.
In accordance with her wishes, her body was donated for medical research to the University of Wisconsin.
