Antigo Police & Langlade County Sheriff Reports for 10/16/17
ANTIGO POLICE REPORTS
Monday, October 2nd
3:27 PM Officers responded to a complaint that a female subject and her dog were standing by the stoplights on Hwy. 64 with a sign asking for money and that they were hungry. The female subject told officers that she was waiting for a ride to Superior. Officers advised the female to find a different place to wait.
6:32 PM Officers responded to a call from a female on 4th Avenue reporting that a car struck a female child across from her apartment in the municipal parking lot. The vehicle was going northbound in the parking lot by 4th Avenue near the intersection with Clermont Street. The female juvenile darted out from in between parked cars, failing to yield the right of way to the vehicle and the two collided. There were only minor injuries. The driver of the vehicle bought the juvenile female a new bike.
Tuesday, October 3rd
10:34 AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Superior Street reporting check fraud. Officers were able to identify the male subject. They were working with the District Attorney on how to proceed.
2:20 PM Officers responded to a call from Langlade Hospital reporting that a female subject stole a handful of supplies from the lab about ten minutes earlier. They believed that some of them were needles. Officers made contact with the female subject. She admitted to officers that she took three containers of gauze, three band-aids and three alcohol packs. The hospital decided not to pursue charges.
3:19 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that the wallet was stolen out of her purse the day before while she was shopping at an area business on Hwy. 64. The caller told officers that she was in the shoe department, put her purse down and went around the corner to the next isle. When she returned and went to check out, her wallet was missing. She told officers that she was at the business between approximately 2:30-4:00 PM. The female also told officers that she had gone to her bank to cancel her cards and three unauthorized charges had already been made on her debit card. Officers reviewed the surveillance videos and were able to get a license plate number from the vehicle of the female subject. Officers talked with the registered owner. She told officers that she only found a card in the aisle and did use the card twice. Charges were pending.
3:44 PM Officers responded to a call from a passer-by reporting a two vehicle accident at 10th Avenue and Dorr Street. They did not think that there were any injuries, but there were children in one of the vehicles. EMS was paged for possible injuries. Property damage only. A report was completed.
Wednesday, October 4th
5:02 AM Officers were out with a male subject in a parking lot off of Hwy. 64. Officers found the male subject sitting on the curb. When he stood up, he stumbled and appeared to be intoxicated or having some medical problem. Officers did a pat down on the male subject and found a marijuana pipe in his right pants pocket. The male subject was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and released.
7:50 AM Officers responded to a two vehicle accident at 10th Avenue and Western Road. Property damage only. The male driver of one of the vehicles was cited for failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign. A traffic education class was offered. A state report was filed.
4:23 PM Officers talked with a female subject on Berner Street regarding someone forging a signature on her car title. A male subject from Mattoon was named as a suspect. Officers were investigating.
Thursday, October 5th
1:36 PM Officers responded to a report that a bicycle ran into a truck on Neva Road. Officers found out that the male driver of the truck had pulled out from the parking lot of an area business on Neva Road. The male subject on the bike had been in the parking lot of an area business across the street and pulled out going eastbound across the street and ran into the passenger side of the truck.
5:48 PM Officers were out with Probation and Parole for a home check at a residence on S. Superior Street. Two offenders were arrested on probation holds per the Department of Corrections. They were transported to Corrections.
7:21 PM Officers collected a counterfeit $10 at an area business on 10th Avenue. The bill had been cashed by a female subject who told officers that she had gotten the bill from one of two area businesses
7:35 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Superior Street reporting that a female subject dropped off a vehicle in front of one of the gas pumps. The keys were left in the vehicle and the business did not want to be held responsible for the vehicle. The vehicle was removed.
Friday, October 6th
10:53 AM Officers responded to a call from a male subject on Field Street reporting that he had bumped into the neighbor’s car as he pulled up to talk to him. There was minor damage. A crash report was completed.
2:48 PM Officers responded to a report from a female that she thought that her wallet was stolen while at an area business on Progress Boulevard at around 2:30 PM. She told officers that there was $200 in the wallet, but no debit or credit cards. No video was available. A statement of non-consent was completed. There were no known suspects.
4:27 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Clermont Street and 1st Avenue. The female driver was arrested on a Langlade County Sheriff’s office warrant for failure to pay a fine for operating without a license. She was transported to Corrections.
4:52 PM Officers were out with a male subject on Clermont Street. He was arrested on an outstanding Langlade County Sheriff’s office warrant. He was transported to Corrections.
10:25 PM Officers responded to a report of an accident in the parking lot of an area business on Neva Road. There were no injuries. A crash report was completed.
Saturday, October 7th
3:53 AM Officers responded to a call from a Shawano County Sheriff’s Deputy who called to advise them that a female subject was coming to pick up a vehicle that Shawano County had towed. The female subject had an outstanding warrant. The female subject was taken to Corrections and she bonded out.
7:18 AM Officers responded to a call from an employee of an area business on Superior Street reporting that a male customer struck a pole in their parking lot, doing damage to his camper. The male driver had pulled into the parking lot and cut the corner too sharp, striking a metal pipe that protects the gas pumps. A crash report was completed.
4:37 PM Officers responded to a call from an employee of an area business on Superior Street reporting an unruly female customer in the business. The caller told officers that the female subject had shoplifted from the store in the past and she had started yelling at the caller because she thought that she was being followed and harassed. Officers arrested the female subject on a probation hold per the Department of Corrections. She was also cited for disorderly conduct.
11:56 PM Officers were out with a male subject at Duchac Street and Gowan Road. Officers arrested the male subject on two Langlade County warrants. He was also charged with felony bail jumping and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sunday, October 8th
1:08 PM Officers responded to a call from a female on Superior Street reporting that someone stole some items from her yard. She told officers that a Big Kid’s playhouse ($300) and a bird bath were missing. It occurred sometime between Friday, October 6th and Sunday, October 8th. The caller told officers that the person who took the playhouse would have needed a trailer as the playhouse was 8 feet long by 6 feet wide by 4 feet high. Officers spoke with three neighbors, but they had not noticed anything.
4:09 PM Officers responded to a report of a short, bald male, in his late 20’s with black glasses, a white shirt and black shorts that was riding his bike in traffic and was now wandering around in people’s yards. The male subject was arrested on a probation hold and trespassing.
4:45 PM Officers responded to a call from a male on S. Clermont Street reporting damage to his 5th wheel RV trailer. He told officers that it appeared that a rock or a bb had gone through a window. Officers thought the hole was caused by a bb gun. Officers spoke with nearby residents, but did not receive any helpful information. No other incidents were known.
LANGLADE COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTS
Wednesday, October 4th
7:30 PM Officers responded to a call from a male subject reporting that he was just involved in an accident at Cty. Rd. D and Sugarbush Road. Property damage only. A state report was completed.
Friday, October 6th
4:47 PM A male came to the Safety Building to report that someone broke into his vacant rental property on Red River Road. He told officers that he went to the property to drop off some items in his machine shed and noticed that the front door was damaged. The door jam was damaged with pieces of it lying inside the house. The door knob was still locked. The house was empty. Officers took photos of the damage.
5:19 PM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that his cabin on Rice Bed Road had been burglarized. The chain at the gate had been tampered with. There was no forced entry to the cabin. Whoever had been there had used the generator, water and television. A change jar containing about $50 was missing. The cabin was entered sometime after 9/4/17, the last time the owners were there. The owners told officers that they believed that someone had been there for a significant amount of time because the gas was almost fully drained from the generator. They also told officers that whoever was there tried to make the cabin appear fine, as items were neatly arranged, but were out of place. A female subject was named as a possible suspect. The owners told officers that she may have gotten access to a key. Fingerprints and hair samples were taken by officers. 10/7/17 The owner called reporting that a motion display light was also missing and the latch on the bathroom window was broken. An extra patrol was requested.
7:37PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that a dark pickup truck with a trailer was driving on the wrong side of the road on Hwy. 45 near Cty. Rd. G. She could not tell officers the color of the truck because it was too dark outside. Officers received numerous more calls reporting the pickup truck. Officers found out that the female driver of the pickup truck had Alzheimer’s. The female driver told officers that she was driving home to DePere from Green Bay. The truck was missing the front driver’s side tire. There was a rim only. It was clear to officers that the female had some health issues. Ultimately, officers were able to get a hold of the female subject’s husband. He advised officers that he was at a coyote hunting training camp in Elderon and had left his wife in the truck while he and his brother walked into the woods to look for a hunting dog. He told officers that he was aware of her mental condition. Officers told the male subject about the numerous traffic complaints they had received. Officers transported the female subject to the Safety Building. When the male subject picked his wife up, officers told him that he has to make sure that she does not have access to any vehicle.
Saturday, October 7th
7:26 PM Officers responded to a report of a vehicle on its side by a culvert on Hwy. 55. There were no injuries.
10:55 AM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that he had been at his cabin on Doemel Court since Thursday, October 5th and just noticed that the back door of his garage was kicked in. The caller told officers that he had not been at the cabin from 10/1/17 to 10/5/17. Missing items included a tackle box with lures and two ground hunting blinds worth $70 each. Photos were taken and a shoe print found at the scene was measured.
4:27 PM Officers responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch at Cty. Rd. AA and Forrest Road. The female driver had head pain. The vehicle did not strike anything. The vehicle was towed.
Sunday, October 8th
2:43 PM Officers responded to a one vehicle accident in front of a residence on Hwy. 45. The female driver from Phelps had minor injuries. A female witness told officers that she witnessed the vehicle driving all over the road prior to going in the ditch. The vehicle was towed.
Monday, October 9th
8:26 AM Officers arrested a male subject at a residence on Cty. Rd. G on a probation hold per the Department of Corrections and for possession of meth. He was transported to Corrections.
4:51 PM Officers responded to a report of a two vehicle accident at Hwy. 45 and Cty. Rd. B. All of the occupants were out of the vehicles and were walking around. All parties refused an ambulance. Both vehicles were towed.
9:26 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting a car in the ditch in front of a residence on North Avenue. The caller told officers that the male driver appeared to be intoxicated and was staggering around. The male subject lived at the residence on North Avenue. He said that he was not hurt and was going to the house to get his truck and get the car out of the ditch. The vehicle was towed.
Tuesday, October 10th
4:40 PM Officers responded to a call from a male subject in Elcho reporting that his $600 backpack was stolen off of his ATV within the last ½ hour, while it was parked in front of an area business on Hwy. 45 in Elcho. The backpack was a Stihl leaf blower unit, orange in color. The caller did not know the model or serial number of the item. The male subject told officers that he had left his ATV in the alley and noticed that the item was missing at around 4:15 PM. There were no security cameras in the area.
