Antigo Police & Langlade County Sheriff Reports for 10/30/17
ANTIGO POLICE REPORTS
Monday, October 16th
9:02 AM Officers received a call from the employee of an area business on Hwy. 64 who told officers that someone backed into his vehicle there and left. The caller told officers that he knew the subject that did it.
11:07 AM Officers received a call from an area business on Superior Street reporting that a female subject took 20 lighters from the business. The caller told officers that they had the incident on video. The video showed that the female subject filled her pockets with lighters while the clerk was helping another customer. The female subject left in a four door red car, driven by a male subject. The female subject was referred for theft and bail jumping.
Tuesday, October 17th
9:37 AM Officers received a report from the Langlade County Highway Department that a white Ford extended or regular cab pickup drove westbound through the new yellow paint on Forrest Avenue between Superior Street and Wausau Road about 30 minutes prior. They told officers that it was done intentionally and the vehicle had swerved back and forth as it continued out of town. Officers were told that the truck had a fuel tank in the back and now had yellow paint all over it.
2:18 PM Officers responded to a call from the manager of an apartment building on Nantasket Street reporting that one of his female tenants struck a light pole with her vehicle. The caller told officers that the female subject was no longer there, but the car was still on the light pole. Officers cited the female subject for operating without a license, 2nd offense.
7:11 PM Officers responded to a call from a female at Antigo Middle School reporting that her cell phone was stolen from her classroom, sometime between 3:20 and 4:00 PM. The caller told officers that she was not in her classroom at the time of the theft. She also told officers that she went online and it showed that the phone was at an address on 4th Avenue. She gave officers a description of the phone. The phone was later found by the library and returned to the female. A juvenile female subject was referred for theft.
8:30 PM The owner of a residence on Edison Street came to the Safety Building to report that his property had been vandalized. He requested an extra patrol.
Wednesday, October 18th
8:37 AM Officers responded to a call from a female on 3rd Avenue reporting that she believed that someone had attempted to break into her car the night before. Officers saw three marks on the passenger side front door that appeared to have been made by a wide tip screwdriver.
9:13 AM Officers responded to a call from East Elementary School reporting that a male student had took off from school again. He was on Virginia Street behind the playground. He was wearing a red shirt and jeans. Officers located the boy and returned him to school. They also handled two other children that were out of control.
11:02 AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Hwy. 64 reporting that they were missing old appliances from behind their store. They told officers that they had heard that a male subject had been taking them and they did not want him to take them. Officers advised the caller that by putting the old appliances by the dumpster, it did appear that they didn’t want them.
3:05 PM Officers were involved in a foot chase on S. Superior Street. Officers apprehended the male subject and he was arrested on a felony Department of Corrections warrant and obstructing. He was transported to Corrections.
3:37 PM Officers responded to a call from an organization on Superior Street reporting the theft of $10 from a cash register by a juvenile male subject. Officers contacted the parents of the male subject. The parents were informed that the $10 needed to be paid back and the boy would no longer be allowed there if it happened again.
4:12 PM Officers were out with some vehicles and subjects in the parking lot of an area business on S. Superior Street. A male subject was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
6:16 PM Officers stopped a vehicle on Lincoln Street. The female driver was arrested for possession of meth, possession of meth paraphernalia, possession of prescription drugs without a valid prescription and two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping.
Thursday, October 19th
8:58 AM Officers responded to a two vehicle accident on the 800 block of 5th Avenue. Vehicle 2 was legally parked and unoccupied. Vehicle 1 pulled in behind Vehicle 2 to park. The driver hit the accelerator instead of the brake, and struck Vehicle 2.
10:10 AM Officers responded to a call from Antigo Middle School reporting that they had confiscated a knife from a male student. The principal and officers spoke with the male student about bringing a cork screw, a bottle top opener and a small blade knife to school. Officers also spoke to one of the boy’s parents. No charges were filed.
Friday, October 20th
9:24 AM Officers received a call from a female reporting that $5 was stolen from her vehicle while it was parked on 3rd Avenue the night before. She did not know if any other items were missing. The female later came to the Safety Building and told officers that she didn’t believe that anything else was missing.
10:15 AM Officers responded to a call from a female on Clermont Street reporting that she believed that someone was in her garage last night. There was a light on and the top of a toolbox was open. The garage door was shut and the side door was unlocked. The caller didn’t know if anything else was taken. Officers told the female to secure the garage and put up an outside light. She told officers that she would be looking into getting security cameras.
11:16 AM Officers cited a male student for disorderly conduct at the Antigo Middle School for continuous disrespectful and disruptive behavior in the halls and classrooms.
11:35 AM Officers cited a male student for truancy for missing all or part of 11 unexcused days of school since the beginning of the year.
11:44 AM Officers cited a student for truancy for missing all or part of 11 unexcused days of school since the beginning of the year.
11:45 AM Officers cited a male student for truancy for missing all or part of 10 unexcused days of school since the beginning of the year.
11:46 AM Officers cited a male student for truancy for missing all or part of 32 unexcused days of school since the beginning of the year.
11:46 AM Officers cited a student for truancy for missing all or part of 14 unexcused days of school since the beginning of the year.
11:47 AM Officers cited a male student for truancy for missing all or part of 18 unexcused days of school since the beginning of the year.

11:50 AM Officers cited a female subject for contributing to truancy regarding her son for missing all or part of 32 unexcused days of school since the beginning of the year.
11:51 AM Officers cited a female subject for contributing to truancy regarding her son for missing all or part of 21 unexcused days of school since the beginning of the year.
2:25 PM Officers responded to a request for an officer at the Antigo Middle School for a student out of control. The male student was brought to the Safety Building.
4:26 PM A male came to the Safety Building to report that two bikes were stolen approximately two weeks prior, from his residence on 2nd Avenue. They were described as a blue Mongoose and a black and orange Mongoose.
4:56 PM Officers referred a male student for disorderly conduct at Antigo Middle School
4:57 PM Officers referred a male student for theft at Antigo Middle School.
4:57 PM Officers referred a male juvenile subject for possession of Schedule II narcotics. Officers referred a second male juvenile subject for possession of Schedule II narcotics. A third male juvenile subject has charges pending for delivery and possession of Schedule II narcotics.
4:58 PM Officers referred a male juvenile subject for disorderly conduct.
5:21 PM Officers were given a jack knife that was found in the playground area at West Elementary during the football game on Friday, October 13th.
8:21 PM Officers received a call from a female reporting that her late mother’s home on N. Hogan Street had been burglarized. The furnace and air conditioning unit had been taken. Officers were investigating.
Saturday, October 21st
10:16 AM Officers received a call from a female on 2nd Avenue reporting that her Saturn vehicle had been shot with blue paintballs while it was parked in front of her apartment last night. She told officers that two other vehicles had been hit as well. Officers were advised.
12:13 PM Officers received a call from a male who told officers that he had purchased a house on 2nd Avenue and had come to clean the house and change the locks that morning when he found a homeless man sleeping inside. The male subject told the caller that he had crawled through a window. The caller also told officers that he found some drug paraphernalia. The male subject was described as 6 feet tall with short black hair and a black scruffy beard. The caller requested an extra patrol.
2:17 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business reporting that a male customer was there with a fake $20 bill. The bill was marked “For Motion Picture Use Only.” The male subject told officers that he did not know where the bill came from. He said that a relative had cashed his check the day before, but he did not know where. Officers found out where the check had been cashed. They talked with that business, which told officers that they did not know where the bill had come from.
4:36 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that she was just involved in a two car accident at Neva Road and Mendlik Avenue. There were no injuries. One vehicle was towed.
Sunday, October 22nd
10:15 AM Officers received a call from a male on Clermont Street reporting that his truck had been hit by paintballs. He told officers that it had happened yesterday or last night. The male called officers back later and told them that the paint had come off his truck in the car wash.
LANGLADE COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTS
Thursday, October 19th
3:51 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that a black Ford Ranger with an American flag in the back almost hit her head on, on Cty. Rd. B, on the curve just before Summit Lake heading southbound. She told officers that she knew the identity of the male driver. Officers left a message for the male subject to call them back. 10/20/17 The male subject called officers back. He knew about the incident where he was over the centerline. He told officers that he would be more careful.
9:49 PM Officers responded to a call from a male subject who reported that he hit a bear on Cty. Rd. A, near Claire Road. The driver told officers that he was not injured, but the bear was. There was only very minor damage to the vehicle. Officers were unable to locate the bear.
Friday, October 20th
6:56 AM Officers responded to several 911 calls reporting a vehicle in the ditch on Hwy. 45, south of Cty. Rd. X, revving its engine. Someone was still in the vehicle. The vehicle was then on the road. The male driver was passed out and there was fire under the hood of the vehicle. The male driver from Pearson was transported to the Langlade Hospital. An accident report was completed.
7:53 AM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that he was at his cabin on Forest Road and last weekend he had noticed that 3 of his tractor tires were flat. Today, he had noticed that some tires on his dump truck were also flat. He told officers that he believed that the tires had been slashed. Officers took photos of the damaged tires. There were slight cut marks to 3 of the 4 tires on the caller’s front end loader and 4 of the 6 tires on his dump truck. The caller named a possible male suspect. Officers talked to the male subject, who denied any involvement.
8:22 AM Officers responded to a call from an employee of St. Wencel’s Catholic Church reporting that someone had broken into the church, probably on Tuesday, 10/17 after 4:30pm. Multiple doors had been left open, a candy dish had been emptied and a few posters had been turned upside down. The church was looking into getting new locks and possibly some security cameras.
10:07 AM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that they were rear-ended by a semi near a construction zone at Hwy. 45 and Nickle Road. There were no injuries. Both vehicles were off the road. A state report was filed.
Saturday, October 21st
11:19 AM Officers responded to a report from the Oconto County Sheriff’s office of a vehicle rollover on Hwy. 64 in Langlade County approximately 1 mile, ½ mile east of Sauls Springs Road. The female driver was trapped in the vehicle. The female from Peshtigo was airlifted to a Madison area hospital. A state report was filed.
1:19 PM Officers responded to a call from a female on Hwy. 64 reporting a vehicle rollover in her driveway. She told officers that there was female, that had been thrown from the car, on the ground moving her head. Several agencies responded and life-saving attempts were made, but the female subject was pronounced dead at the scene. A state report was filed.
10:54 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Hwy. 45 and Cty. Rd. I. The male driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 1st offense and he was cited for operating with no auto insurance, unsafe lane deviation and having operating a motor vehicle with a prohibited alcohol content.
Sunday, October 22nd
12:29 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at 2nd Avenue and Edison Street. The male driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 1st offense.
Monday, October 23rd
12:20 PM Officers responded to a two vehicle accident at Hwy. 45 and Cty. Rd. D.
Tuesday, October 24th
8:02 AM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that their home under construction on River Forest Lane had been burglarized. The owners told officers that it must have occurred between 7:00 PM on 10/22 and 8:00 AM on 10/24. The suspect had kicked the front door open and only took a ½” Milwaukee hammer drill. The owners showed the officers a shoe print that did not belong to them. Officers were investigating.
9:03 AM While officers were investigating a burglary on River Forest Lane, they also found that another property on River Forest Lane had been broken into. Officers contacted the property owners in Green Bay. The suspects had shot the patio window with what appeared to be a 410 shotgun. Officers were going to get a list of any missing items from the owners. Officers talked with a neighbor. They told officers that they did not hear anything on Sunday or Monday night. Officers were investigating.
10:05 AM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that he was sideswiped on Hwy. 45 by a white dually pickup truck, probably a diesel because of the black smoke. The caller was unable to get the license plate number of the truck. The caller told officers that the white truck should have some damage on the passenger side. He also told officers that there were red lights on the dash of the truck that were flashing at the time. Officers talked to a male witness who told them that he had to go into the ditch to avoid a head on collision with the truck which was driving recklessly and speeding at approximately 100 MPH. Officers observed that the truck had hit the reporting person’s mirror causing damage. The suspect vehicle had continued southbound on Hwy. 45 at a high rate of speed. The Shawano County Sheriff’s office was unable to locate the vehicle.
