Linda Skinner, 75
Linda Skinner, of Antigo, died Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Sage Oak Assisted Living in Dallas, Texas. She was 75 years old. She was born on November 21, 1941 in Seattle, Wash. a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Lou (Behymer) Gabler. She married William Skinner on August 10, 1978 at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death on November 7, 2016.
She was a graduate of Franklin High School in Seattle, class of 1959 and continued her education at the University of Puget Sound in Seattle receiving a degree in Education in 1964.
Linda taught at St. Hyacinth Catholic Grade School and for 33 years was employed by the Antigo Daily Journal, leaving in 2016 when she became ill.
Linda was a devoted member of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church and later SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church, having served as a Eucharistic minister and lector.
She enjoyed mentoring children, was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, loved to read and cherished her daughters.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanie (Col. (ret) Russell) Mathers of Bossier City, LA. and Sarah Skinner of Dallas, Texas; a step-daughter, Nicole Skinner of Antigo; a granddaughter, Shannon Mathers; and a brother, Craig (Lori) Gabler of Centralia, Wash.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Jan and Judy Gabler.
A funeral Mass for Linda will be held on Thursday, October 19 at 2 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas. Following the Mass inurnment will take place at Calvary Hill Cemetery in Dallas.
