Merlin Dean Krueger, 89
Merlin D. Krueger, age 89 of Birnamwood, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Aspirus Langlade Hospital, Antigo.
He was born on May 30, 1928 in Birnamwood, son of the late Albert and Esther (Schoenike) Krueger. On February 27, 1954 he was united in marriage to Elaine Seefeldt at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Birnamwood. She preceded him in death on March 6, 2011. Merlin served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
After marriage, the couple owned and operated Merlin and Elaine’s Bar in Eland from 1955 to 1970. The couple then owned and operated a Wick Building franchise in Birnamwood until their retirement. Merlin enjoyed his retirement greatly, visiting friends and family, playing cards, and taking pontoon rides. He was a great fan of Wisconsin sports teams, and loved cheering for the Brewers, Badgers, and of course the Packers.
Survivors include three children, Claudie (Bob) Loesel, Wausau, Brad Krueger, Birnamwood, and Kristi (Ellen Walbrun) Krueger, Clintonville; four grandchildren, Lisa Loesel, Lindsay (Brian) Jacobson, Kesi (Dustin) Johnson and Kaden Krueger; three sisters, Velma Culver, Milwaukee, Regene Krueger, Wausau, and Rene (Carl) Lubee, Wausau.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, N9035 Hwy 45 S., Birnamwood. Rev. Matthew Christians will officiate. Inurnment will be in Forest Cemetery, Birnamwood, where military honors will be performed. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of service at the church on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.
