Alene D. Newcomb, 76 of Wittenberg, died on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at her home under the care of her family and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born on May 4, 1941 in Wittenberg, the daughter of the late Adolf and Ellen Dean (Groh) Diestler.
On June 22, 1963, Alene was united in marriage to Morton Newcomb in Wittenberg. He preceded her in death on May 27, 2015.
Alene was librarian for the village of Wittenberg Public Library for over 20 years. She also was church organist for St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wittenberg, where she played for many services, funerals and weddings. Alene enjoyed reading, knitting, canning, baking, gardening, quilting and music.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Newcomb of Fort Atkinson, Beth (Jim) Breske of Hatley, Carrie (Troy) Zernzach of Red Granite and Cathy (Craig) Kolbeck of Algoma; two sons, Mort (Lisa) Newcomb of Oshkosh and Tom (Heather) Newcomb of Columbus; 12 grandchildren, Tiffany, Stephanie, Shannon, Austin, Halle, Cassidy, John, Caitlyn, Ray, Tyler, Ella and Jacob and one great-grandchild, Skylar.
Alene was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, Charles Dean and sister Julie McGivern.
A visitation will be held from 12Noon to 2PM on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Wittenberg.
