Antigo Police & Langlade County Sheriff Reports for 12/4/17
ANTIGO POLICE REPORTS
Monday, November 20th
2:44 PM A male subject came to the Safety Building to report that while looking for a parking spot at an area business on Hwy. 64, another male subject was backing out, then got out of his SUV, exchanged words with the reporting male and then proceeded to kick his vehicle causing damage. The reporting male subject gave officers the other male subject’s license plate number. Officers also reviewed the business security footage. The male suspect was identified as a male subject living on 5th Avenue. Officers referred the male subject for criminal damage and disorderly conduct.
3:32 PM A male student was cited for possession of tobacco at Antigo High School.

3:33 PM A female student was cited for possession of tobacco at Antigo High School.
3:33 PM A female student was cited for possession of a weapon on school grounds, other than a firearm, at Antigo High School.
3:33 PM A male student was cited for disorderly conduct, 3rd offense, at Antigo High School.
9:10 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Hwy. 64 reporting that some shoplifters just left the business, approximately 3 to 5 minutes earlier, and took off westbound on Hwy. 64 in a 2005 Buick Century, gray, four door vehicle. The caller gave officers the license plate number. The reporting person told officers that they believed that the subjects may still have the stolen merchandise in the vehicle and that the business had video of the incident. Officers made a traffic stop at Spruce Street and S. Clermont Street with the suspected vehicle. A female subject was arrested on a Department of Corrections probation hold, felony bail jumping and felony retail theft. She was also cited for operating after suspension. A male subject was arrested for felony retail theft and he was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Tuesday, November 21st
11:45 AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Neva Road reporting that drug paraphernalia was found in a room after a guest checked out. Needles had been found in the garbage. A substance that tested positive for meth was found in a drawer and some needles in the garbage. Officers were going to make contact with the male subject that had rented the room.
12:15 PM Officers responded to a report of a minor accident in the parking lot of an area business on 5th Avenue. Vehicle 2 was legally parked in a parking spot and the vehicle owner was in the vehicle. Vehicle 1 backed out of a spot across from Vehicle 2 and backed into the parked vehicle, causing minor damage to Vehicle 2 and no damage to Vehicle 1.
Wednesday, November 22nd
11:42 PM Officers stopped a vehicle on 5th Avenue. The male driver was arrested for driving with a detectable amount of a controlled substance and operating without a driver’s license.
Friday, November 24th
5:08 PM A female subject came to the Safety Building to report that her Oxycodone and Hydrocodone medications had been stolen while she was at work at an area business on S. Superior Street. She gave officers the name of a possible suspect. Officers were investigating.
7:34 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Hwy. 64 and Jerome Street. The male driver was arrested on a Langlade County warrant. He was also cited for operating after suspension and given a warning for an inadequate muffler.
Saturday, November 25th
12:16 AM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that while he was behind an area business on Superior Street, a male subject ran up to him and slammed himself into the caller’s vehicle. The caller told officers that the male subject was short, stocky and possibly wearing a green jacket. Officers found a male subject, matching the description, lying face down on the ground behind another area business on Superior Street. EMS was paged for a possible broken leg. The male subject was extremely intoxicated and didn’t know where he was, who the president was or his own birthdate. The male subject was transferred to the emergency room where officers had to go twice to calm the subject down. There were no charges.
4:19 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Neva Road reporting that they had an adult female shoplifter that was causing a problem. The female subject from Antigo was arrested for retail theft and bail jumping. She was transported to Corrections.
Sunday, November 26th
4:53 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that she was just involved in an accident at Century Avenue and Progress Boulevard. There were no injuries. Both vehicles were towed.
LANGLADE COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTS
Wednesday, November 22nd
10:39 AM Officers stopped a vehicle on Cty. Rd. A. The female driver was arrested for failure to install an ignition interlock device, operating after revocation, operating while intoxicated related and a probation hold per the Department of Corrections. She was also cited for speed. The female subject was transported to Corrections.
5:59 PM Officers stopped a vehicle on Cty. Rd. C. The vehicle had been stolen from Oneida County. The male driver was transported to Pelican Lake to be turned over to a Rhinelander Police Department officer. The male subject was also cited for operating while suspended and speed.
9:09 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that her daughter hit a bear on Hwy. 45, south of Elcho, before Hwy. B. A crash report was completed.
10:43 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Meadow Road and Cty. Rd. F. The female driver was arrested on an Oneida County warrant. She was also cited for speed and operating while suspended.
Thursday, November 23rd
11:19 AM Officers received a call from a female reporting that she was driven off of the road while she was driving southbound on Hwy. 45 near Cty. Rd. G by a silver/gray Hyundai with yellow license plates that was northbound in her lane. She told officers that she had to hit her brakes hard to avoid a collision. The caller was unable to get the license plate number of the other vehicle. At approximately 11:25 AM, the female called back stating that she found the vehicle at an area business on Neva Road and she spoke with the driver of the Hyundai. The caller gave officers the license plate number of the vehicle.
11:23 AM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting a head on accident on Hwy. 45 near Bagley Lane. One vehicle was on its side in the roadway and the other vehicle was in the ditch near the trees. All subjects were out of the vehicles and walking around. The male driver of one of the vehicles was cited for inattentive driving. Both vehicles were towed. A state report was completed.
8:35 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting a possible intoxicated driver on Hwy. 45 near Huggins Road. The caller told officers that the driver was swerving, crossing the centerline, slowing and accelerating and hogging the centerline. Officers stopped the suspected vehicle on S. Clermont Street. The male driver was not intoxicated. He told officers that vehicle problems had caused the driving deviations. The male subject was given a 10 day correction notice for operating without insurance.
Friday, November 24th
2:05 PM Officers responded to an anonymous call reporting that an adult male subject with two kids was sitting on the ice by the beach at the Phlox Pond. The caller didn’t believe that the ice was thick enough and was concerned for their safety. A male subject from Birnamwood was arrested on a Shawano County warrant and transferred to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department at the Shawano county line.
Sunday, November 26th
4:07 PM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that a tan Toyota SUV was southbound on Hwy. 45 near Koepenick Road, driving 45 to 65 miles per hour, driving close to the centerline and over the fog line. The caller gave officers the license plate number of the vehicle. Officers stopped the vehicle in the parking lot of an area business on Neva Road. The male driver was advised of the complaint.
Monday, November 27th
4:36 AM Officers responded to a call from a male subject at his residence on Forest Road requesting an ambulance to take him to St. Mary’s hospital in Rhinelander. The male subject told officers that he drank 3.5 quarts of booze and was naked. He told officers that he wanted to seek treatment from his primary doctor. Despite his claims that he was intoxicated, the male subject did not slur his words and was very cognizant. The Antigo Fire Department was able to transport the male subject to St. Mary’s hospital.
7:11 PM Officers received a call from a male reporting that he was traveling from Wausau and lost the forks to a skid steer off his trailer. He told officers that they would be 4 feet wide with 2 forks. The male also told officers the route he had taken. Officers advised the male to call the Marathon County Sheriff’s office and advise them of the situation. Dispatch also called the Marathon County Sheriff’s office. Officers received a call back from the Marathon County Sheriff’s office advising them that the forks hit a car and caused an accident on Hwy. 52. The Marathon County dispatch requested that officers contact the male subject and tell him to call the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department.
10:55 PM Officers responded to a call from a male subject from Gleason reporting that he hit a deer on Cty. Rd. H, spun out and ended up on the roof in the ditch. He was not injured.
Tuesday, November 28th
8:03 AM Officers responded to several calls reporting an accident on Hwy. 45 on the south side of Antigo.
11:45 AM Officers responded to report of a vehicle that ran off the road on Hwy. 64, just west of Hwy. 52. The female driver told officers that she was not hurt, but very shaken up. The vehicle was towed.
Wednesday, November 29th
11:23 AM A male subject came to the Safety Building to report fraud. He fell victim to a common scam claiming that he had won a substantial amount of money. He was told that he could not receive the money until he paid the taxes, insurance and other administration fees. Once the male subject began sending money, several different scammers began to call him. They explained that there were issues getting the money to him and they used this as an excuse to get the male to send more money. The incident began in September 2017. The male subject did not want to disclose the amount of money that he had already sent. Based on previous law enforcement experience, it will be nearly impossible to get a subject’s money back.
