LaVerne Louis Carter, 90
LaVerne Louise Carter died Sunday, November 12, 2017 at The Bay at Eastview under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 90 years old.
She was born March 21, 1927 in Polar, daughter of the late Alfred and Linda (Bartlet) Bornemann. She married Clarence Carter in Milwaukee, WI in 1947. Clarence preceded her in death on March 21, 1990.
Mrs. Carter was employed as a waitress at the Mayfair Supper Club in Milwaukee. After her husband opened an auto body shop, she assisted with the family business. In 1972 she returned to the Antigo area, wh ere she continued to work with Clarence in the auto body business. She also worked as a waitress at the Dixie Lunch for 16 years, and cleaned at Antigo High School.
She loved flower gardening, quilting, and sewing.
She was longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church. She participated in the church prayer circle, served as president of Ladies Aid, and was active in many other church functions.
Survivors include a son, Jerry (Kathy) Carter of Antigo; 4 grandchildren, Greg (Kathi) Carter of Antigo, Tony (Jenna) Petro of Montello, Katina (Eric) Nelson of Appleton, Mike (Tina) Jones of Paige, AZ; great-grandchildren, Maverick Carter, Jerry Petro, Max Petro, and Ryan Jones; 2 brothers, Ralph (Genny) Bornemann of Deerbrook, and Bruce Kegley of Schofield.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Carter; a stepson, Bill Carter; her stepfather, Frank Kegley; a great-grandson, Philip Petro; 3 sisters, Shirley Zolnik, Berniece Petters, Margie Windrock; and a brother, Art Bornemann.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church. Reverend David Karolus will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00AM until the service at the church. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
