Leslie “Les” Turner, 59
Leslie “Les” Turner, of Deerbrook, died Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at his home under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice. He was 59 years old. He was born on April 30, 1958, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of Kenneth and Jeannetta (Roberts) Turner. He married Patricia Knowles on September 6, 1980, in Milwaukee.
Les served his country from 1975 to 1981, having served four years in the United States Navy and two years in the Reserves. He was an engineer by trade having worked all over the country.
In 1996 he moved from Milwaukee to Deerbrook after completing the home he built for his family.
He was employed at Northern Wire in Merrill for 15 years.
Les was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening and tending to his hobby farm.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Hodag Sports Club in Rhinelander.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; two daughters, Nicole (Ben) Nelson of Wrightstown and Laura Turner of Green Bay; a granddaughter, Madalyn Nelson; parents, Kenneth and Jeannetta Turner of Coal Center, Pa.; a sister, Rebecca (Kenneth) Layman of Fayette City, Pa.; father-in-law, Robert Knowles of Bowler; two sisters-in-law, Vicky (David) Haas of Bowler and Roberta (Curt) Baldwin of Gillette; two brothers-in-law, James (Cathy) Knowles of Marion and Steven Knowles; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Phyllis Knowles.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2017, at 4 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with Chaplin David Guerrero officiating. Burial will take place in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Cemetery in Gresham. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Antigo veterans will conduct military honors at the funeral home following the service.
