Patricia A. Opper, 79 of Birnamwood, died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born on March 10, 1938 in Antigo, the daughter of the late Nick and Sophie (Neibauer) Meidl.
On June 30, 1956, Pat was united in marriage to Melvin Opper in Birnamwood. He survives.
In her early years, Pat worked at the former veneer mill in Birnamwood. She also worked for Remington gas station in Birnamwood for 10 years and retired from Top Brass, Wittenberg. Throughout the years, Pat also babysat for many children. She enjoyed crocheting and working on her computer. Pat was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church, Birnamwood and was a member of its Altar Society. Pat enjoyed spending time with her family, but especially enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren.
Pat is survived by her husband Mel; two children, Dean Opper of Port Orchard, WA and Tina (John Nelson) Jensen of Green Bay; two grandchildren, Autumn and Logan; one sister, Shirley Wilson of Cambridge; three brothers, Terry (Joan) Meidl and Gary (Patsy) Meidl all of FL and Ken Meidl of Tomah and many other relatives and friends.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Carl Meidl and a sister, Delores Schmidt.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 12, 2018 at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Birnamwood. Fr. Anthony Ibekwe will officiate. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass at the church.
Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
