Antigo Police & Langlade County Sheriff Reports for the 2/26/18
ANTIGO POLICE REPORTS
Monday, February 5th
3:50 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that a black SUV struck a male subject, wearing a cowboy hat, at the intersection of Hwy. 64 and Hwy. 45. The caller told officers that the male subject got up and walked away. Another vehicle then stopped and spoke with the male subject. Officers received no additional calls from the victim or any other drivers.
6:21 PM Officers responded to a call from a female on Arctic Street reporting that her vehicle had been gone through. Cash and change totally about $80 had been taken. The incident occurred between 9:00 PM on 2/4/18 and 5:00 AM on 2/5/18. There were no suspects.
Tuesday, February 6th
11:44 AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Superior Street reporting that they just had a gas drive off. The caller told officers that a white truck with a black snowmobile trailer left northbound on Superior Street without paying for $31.95 in gas. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.
12:19 PM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that he was just involved in an accident with another vehicle at Forrest Avenue and Superior Street. Property damage only.
7:45 PM Officers responded to a call from an employee of an area business on Memory Lane reporting that they saw needles in a guest’s room. Officers arrested a male subject for possession of heroin. He was first transported to Langlade Hospital for medical clearance and then transported to Corrections.
Thursday, February 8th
10:48 AM Officers arrested a male subject at an area business on Memory Lane on bail jumping charges, uttering/forgery and theft. Drug paraphernalia and a white subject were also found and placed into evidence.
8:46 PM Officers were at a residence on 8th Avenue. A female subject was arrested on three Langlade County warrants.
Friday, February 9th
9:04 AM Officers received a 911 call from a male subject on Dorr Street. The subject first called, did not talk and then hung up. He then called back again and said that he thought that his garage was on fire because the lights went on in the car. He told officers that he had no fire extinguisher. The caller seemed confused. Officers arrived to see flames under the male subject’s van that was parked in the garage. They attempted to put the fire out with an extinguisher, but were unsuccessful. The vehicle was fully engulfed by the time the Antigo Fire Department arrived. The fire was extinguished. The male caller told officers that he had gone out to start the van, but it would not idle down. He then shut it off and came back into the house. A little later, he thought that he saw smoke coming from the garage and called 911.
4:05 PM Officers responded to a report of a black Ford Expedition that was parked in a lot by a building at 5th Avenue and Superior Street with a male subject stuck inside the vehicle because he parked it too close to another vehicle and could not find his keys. Officers received another call reporting that the vehicle had struck the building.
8:59 PM Officers stopped a vehicle in the alley off of 8th Avenue by Virginia Street. A male subject was arrested for possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and felony bail jumping.
Saturday, February 10th
11:51 AM Officers responded to a report of a fire in the closet of an apartment on 5th Avenue. When the fire department arrived, an upstairs apartment was in flames. The fire department was able get the fire out in less than an hour and prevented it from spreading to other areas of the building. The fire is still under investigation.
4:31 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business on S. Superior Street reporting that a male subject’s check did not clear again. After the male subject was told that the system had denied his payment, he took off. He left northbound on Superior Street in an SUV. Officers made contact with the male subject. He told officers that he would work on paying the bill. 5:18 PM Officers received a call from the business reporting that bill had been paid.
8:26 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that she witnessed a vehicle crash into, and get stuck in a snowbank on Neva Road. The vehicle was towed. The male driver was arrested on a Langlade County Sheriff’s Office warrant and he was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
11:46 PM Officers responded to a 911 call from a female on Dorr Street reporting that a male and female subject had just come to her house and punched her. The subjects then left, going to an area business on 5th Avenue. The female told officers that when she pulled up to her apartment building, the two subjects came over to her vehicle and started saying stuff to her. The female subject then struck the caller in the face approximately 3 times with an open hand and once with a fist through the driver’s side window. The caller told officers that she never got out of her vehicle and never hit the female back. When the caller got her phone out to call the police, the subjects left. Officers noted that the female caller’s face was red in areas where she said that she had been hit. Officers were unable to locate the female and male subjects. The female subject was cited for disorderly conduct.
Sunday, February 11th
7:53 PM Officers were out with a male subject at an area business on S. Superior Street. The male subject was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to Corrections.
Monday, February 12th
8:58 PM Officers received a call from a male subject reporting some fraudulent transactions on his bank account. They involved three transactions at the same business between 2/10/18 and 2/12/18 for a total of $103.64. He told officers that he had his bank card in his possession the whole time and had no idea when the numbers had been compromised.
10:05 PM Officers were out with a male subject on 5th Avenue. The male subject was arrested for possession of marijuana and a felony warrant out of Winnebago County. He was transported to Corrections.
Tuesday, February 13th
1:19 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at 10th Avenue and Dorr Street. The male driver was arrested for possession of a Schedule IV non-narcotic and possession of an illegally obtained prescription. He was also cited for failure to fasten his seatbelt.
10:54 PM Officers responded to a two vehicle accident at Hwy. 45 and Hwy. 64. Vehicle 1 was stopped at a stop sign exiting the parking lot of an area business on Hwy. 45. Vehicle 2 was northbound on Hwy. 45 in the outside lane. The driver of Vehicle 1 stated that she did not see Vehicle 2 and pulled out, striking Vehicle 2 in the passenger side doors, causing damage. Vehicle 1 sustained damage to its front end. There were no injuries. The female driver of Vehicle 1 was cited for failure to yield the right of way. A state report was filed.
11:59 AM Officers responded to a call from West Elementary School requesting an officer for a male student that was out of control and had completely destroyed the principal’s office. The male student had torn everything apart in the office including the drywall and insulation. He was sent home with his father.
2:11 PM Officers referred a male student for disorderly conduct for pushing another male student into a glass case on the 2nd floor at Antigo Middle School, shattering the glass. The male victim received minor cuts on his arm.
2:52 PM Officers responded to a call from a female on Dorr Street reporting that her vehicle was struck sometime after 4:00 PM on 2/12/18. There was damage to the passenger side rear bumper. There was some blue paint transfer.
Wednesday, February 14th
12:28 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business on S. Superior Street reporting a two vehicle accident in their parking lot. Vehicle 1 was pulling into the lot. Vehicle 2 was backing through the lot with the intention of turning around to leave. Vehicle 2 backed into Vehicle 1. Property damage only.
1:00 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that she was just in an accident in the parking lot of an area business on Neva Road. Vehicle 2 was waiting for a vehicle to back out of a parking spot. Vehicle 1 then attempted to park in the same parking spot. Vehicle 1 struck Vehicle 2 in the driver’s side front fender area causing damage. Vehicle 1 sustained damage to the passenger side front fender. There were no injuries.
3:00 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that someone struck her vehicle while it was parked at a business on Superior Street. A state report was completed.
Thursday, February 15th
8:02 AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Hwy. 64 reporting that a patron just reported to them that he hit a pole at a neighboring business. The vehicle was towed. A report was completed.
11:44 AM Officers referred a student at Antigo Middle School for having a weapon on school property, other than a firearm, on 2/14/18.
11:45 AM Officers referred two male students at Antigo Middle School for disorderly conduct. At the end of the day, both students had run through the hallways yelling, “I’m a school shooter” and making “pop, pop, pop” noises. This was witnessed by staff and other students. The two male students ran out the door when staff members tried to stop them.
4:58 PM Officers responded to an anonymous complaint of a white Ford pickup that was driving on the centerline of the northbound lanes of Superior Street at North Avenue, changing speeds, but going very slow. The vehicle then turned into an area business at the corner of Hwy. 45 and Hwy. 64. It took the female driver several attempts to park the truck straightly. Officers arrested the female driver for operating while intoxicated, 1st offense.
Friday, February 16th
11:50 AM Officers responded to a call from North Elementary School requesting an officer for a 5th grade male student that was out of control. The student had been acting out in class and was sent to the principal’s office. In the principal’s office, he yelled at the principal, and then threw a table and a chair. By the time officers arrived, the student had calmed down. He was sent home with his parents.
LANGLADE COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTS
Wednesday, February 14th
7:32 AM Officers responded to a call from the Langlade County Highway Department reporting a vehicle in the ditch at Hwy. 45 and Parkside Lane. There were no injuries.
11:26 AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Hwy. 45 reporting a gas drive-off of $15.01 by a subject driving a green Dodge Neon that occurred about 10 minutes earlier. The caller gave officers the license plate number. The vehicle was listed to male subject from Pickerel. Officers spoke with the male subject who said that he would take care of the bill by Friday.
11:40 AM Officers responded to a two vehicle accident on Hwy. 45, south of Forrest Avenue. Property damage only.
Thursday, February 15th
10:10 AM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that some items were missing from a semi that was parked at an area business on Superior Street. The truck driver noticed between 9:30 and 10:00PM on 2/14/18 that 8 of 16 aluminum poles had been taken from the trailer. The driver had parked the semi around 7:00 PM on 2/14/18. He then returned around 9:00 PM. The poles had to have been taken during that time. The poles were valued at a total of $800. Officers took photos of the remaining poles.
10:39 AM Officers received a report from the White Lake School that a male student punched another male student and made his lip bleed on 2/14/18. The male student was referred for disorderly conduct.
Friday, February 16th
12:38 PM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that a he had just seen an ATV going northbound on Hwy. 55 doing 70 MPH from Langlade to Sawyer Lake Road. Officers located the ATV on Hwy. 55. After a five minute pursuit, the male subject was arrested on a Department of Corrections warrant, was charged with fleeing and officer and received several Department of Natural Resources citations.
1:21 PM Officers responded to a call from an area towing company reporting that they were enroute to tow a vehicle that was in the ditch on Cty. Rd. T, approximately 8 miles west of Hwy. 45.
2:58 PM Officers responded to a call from a male on Hunting River Road reporting that he and his wife had found baggies with an unknown substance inside them and they would like an officer to pick them up. The caller told officers that during the past week, they had seen multiple plastic bags on the side of the road. They were concerned that someone was leaving the bags out to poison animals. Officers picked up & examined the material. It appeared to be a seed with a sweet smell. Officers took the item to an area veterinarian. The doctor explained that it wasn’t anything that he was familiar with, but if it had any type of artificial sweetener on it, it would kill a dog, coyote or wolf rather quickly. The items were logged into evidence with a request for testing
8:42 PM Officers responded to a call from an area towing company reporting a vehicle in the ditch, against a tree, on Clear Lake Road. The airbags had deployed. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed. The driver was cited for failure to report a crash, failure to maintain control of the vehicle and driving too fast for conditions.
Saturday, February 17th
5:48 PM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that his daughter had swerved to miss a deer and rolled her vehicle at Cty. Rd. AA and Cty. Rd. S. There were no injuries. A state crash report was completed.
8:13 PM Officers responded to a call from an area towing company reporting a vehicle in the ditch on Clear Lake Road, halfway between Cty. Rd, U and Cty. Rd. K. The caller stated that there was severe front end damage and the vehicle was undrivable. Officers made contact with the male driver. He said that he had been fishing with his family all day and on the way back to the cabin, slid off the road. He told officers that he did not realize that he needed to report the accident. He denied drinking and told officers that he was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the accident. The male subject was cited for driving too fast for conditions, operating left of center, failure to maintain control, failure to notify law enforcement of an accident and was given a 10 day correction notice for no proof of insurance.
8:41 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that a vehicle just went into the ditch at Cty. Rd. F and Meadow Road. The vehicle was leaking fluid and had front end damage. The vehicle was towed. Officers gave the female driver and her daughter a ride home. A crash report was completed.
Sunday, February 18th
2:47 AM Officers came upon a vehicle in the roadway at Cty. Rd. K and Clear Lake Road. The vehicle was in the eastbound lane, facing east. The doors were locked. Officers went to the registered owner’s residence, but there was no answer at the door. The vehicle was towed. The female owner later called officers asking about her vehicle. She advised officers that she had been drinking and felt it was safer to get a ride home at the time.
5:43 AM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that he saw a vehicle in the ditch at the intersection of Cty. Rd. H and Cty. Rd. N. He told officers that he did not see any people, just lights on. Officers found out that the male driver had already contacted a tow truck. The vehicle was removed with some minor front end damage.
11:18 AM Officers responded to a report of a two vehicle accident on Forrest Avenue. A state report was completed.
1:27 PM Officers responded to a call from a female on Cty. Rd. B reporting that hunters just shot a coyote in her yard. Multiple vehicles then fled in different directions. The caller confronted one of the vehicles and the male subject gave her his name. The female told officers that she had seen two male hunters in her yard. After chasing a coyote with hounds, they cornered the coyote in her yard and shot it approximately 85 feet from her residence. Officers followed up with one of the male subjects at his residence. He admitted to trespassing and shooting the coyote in the female’s yard. The male subject was cited trespassing. Officers were looking into further charges for discharging a firearm so close to a residence.
3:46 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting a vehicle in the ditch on Hwy. 64 about 1 mile east of Hwy. 52. The vehicle was located on the north side of the road. The caller stated that there were people in the vehicle.
11:19 PM Officers responded to a 911 call transferred from the Forest County Sheriff Office reporting an accident on Pratt Road, east of Partridge Road. Officers were unable to make contact with the caller. They could only hear subjects talking in the background. When officers arrived on the scene, no one was around the vehicle. Officers found numerous cans and cases of beer in the bed of the truck. There was also beer spilled all over the driver’s side floorboard. The vehicle was towed and held. Officers spoke with the vehicle owner on the phone. The male subject stated that he had slid in the ditch. He told officers that he didn’t know anything about the spilt beer in the vehicle. The male subject was cited for failure to report an accident, open intoxicants in the vehicle, driving too fast for conditions and failure to maintain control of the vehicle. The three passengers that had been in the truck were each cited for failure to report an accident to law enforcement. A crash report was completed and the vehicle was released.
