For the Antigo Times

The City of Antigo website has a number of links and information providing resources to our community about our urban forestry program.

The City of Antigo’s urban forestry program involves maintenance of park, boulevard and cemetery trees.  There is an annual Arbor Day celebration and we have been a recipient of the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA award since 1994.

The following is a brief summary of the information that can be found on the City of Antigo website under the Urban Forestry tab (www.antigo-city.org):

  • Tree Planting
    • Small Tree Brochure
    • Medium Tree Brochure
    • Large Tree Brochure
  • Tree Removal
  • Tree Pruning
  • Antigo’s Urban Forestry History
  • Emerald Ash Borer
    • WDNR website:  http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/urbanforests/eabtoolbox.html

  • Arbor Day Celebration

  • Urban Forestry Grant
  • Tree Memorials

The Park, Recreation and Cemetery Department is located in City Hall (700 Edison Street, Antigo, WI 54409).  Staff can be reached at:  715.623.3633 extension-131/154 for tree related issues.  Brochures are available in the front waiting area (the brochures were partially funded through an Urban Forestry Grant).

Erik Rantala, Administrator, with Langlade County Forestry and Recreation and Sarah Repp, with Antigo Park, Recreation and Cemetery Department collaborated to compile the following educational information for our residents and visitors.

“This document was funded in part by an urban forestry grant from the State of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Forestry Program as authorized under s. 23.097, Wis. Stat.”
