Edna Marie Zwirschitz, 96

Edna M. Zwirschitz, 96, formerly of Mattoon, died on Tuesday, February 06, 2018 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg under the care of AseraCare Hospice.
She was born on March 12, 1921 in the town of Aniwa, the daughter of the late John and Barbara (Fischer) Beck.
On January 25, 1941, Edna was united in marriage to Joseph Zwirschitz in Phlox. He preceded her in death on January 6, 1986.
Edna was a homemaker and also was site manager for the Shawano County meal site in Mattoon. She also worked for the Mattoon Post Office. Edna was very creative and was an excellent seamstress. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church, Phlox being very active in the St. Monica’s Society and also taught religious education. Edna was also a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was an avid Green Bay Packers Fan and attended the Ice Bowl and had season tickets starting at City Stadium. Family was very important to Edna, and she especially enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include five children, Gary (Joyce) Zwirschitz of Virginia Beach, VA, Diane (David) Weigel of Shawano, Jon (Special friend Ronda Rades) Zwirschitz of Mattoon, Jane (Tom) Schmidt of Shawano and Tim (Barbara) Zwirschitz of Mattoon; 10 grandchildren, Brad (Inga) Zwirschitz, John (Jennifer) Zwirschitz, Grant (Christy) Schultz, Aaron (Sarah) Schultz, Quinn Schultz, Justin (Pennie) Zwirschitz, Bethany Watters, Kiley (Randy) Pingel, Tracy (Eric) Chernetski and Eric (Nikki) Zwirschitz; 44 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanette Pecha of Antigo and Carolyn (Arvid) Evensvolde of Gold Canyon, AZ; two brothers, Norbert (Audrey) Beck of Cottage Grove, MN and Phillip (Margie) Beck of Antigo and sister-in-law, Caroline Beck of Antigo.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, parents, step-father, Rudy Mondl and siblings, Bernice Kirsch and Harold, Sylvester and Clem Beck.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Friday, February 9, 2018 at St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church, Phlox. Fr. Charles Hoffmann will officiate. Interment will be in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, town of Hutchins. Visitation will be on Friday from 9AM until the time of Mass at the church.
