Six Antigo Wrestlers qualify for Sectionals

The Antigo wrestling team qualified six wrestlers for sectionals on Saturday at the Green Bay United regional. Qualifiers included Logan Edwards – 4th, Ben Stimac – 3rd, Billy Hull – 3rd, Brandon Lucht – 2nd, Korbin Krueger – 2nd, and Collinn Eldridge – 3rd.

“We did a great job qualifying six wrestlers. The team score didn’t end up the way we wanted, but we still moved six  guys forward in the state tournament. The sense of urgency will definitely increase this next weekend. Our guys are ready. We set up a very difficult schedule on purpose. There is no easy road to state. I told our wrestlers to make sure they left everything on the mat this week. The guys that didn’t make it through did that. I’m very proud of the effort they put in this year. It’s hard for your season to end, but they handled it well. Every single wrestler we have left in the tournament has a legitimate shot at getting to state. Our kids don’t back down from anyone and that’s great to see. We were behind in several matches and our wrestler would fight back for a pin. I never feel like we are out of a match until it’s over. Korbin and Logan both had matches they were losing and came back with a pin. It’s quite shocking to the opponent but it’s becoming something we are used to seeing,” said Coach Ben Olsen.
Sectionals are this Saturday at Green Bay Preble starting at 10:30AM.
