Starting as a teller at the Fidelity Saving Bank in 1946, he was elected president in 1977, the position he held until his retirement in 1987. He continued his service to the bank as chairman of the board. His fellow bank employees were like a second family to him, and the bank a second home.

Mr. Aulik served his community in many ways. He was a loyal member of B.P.O. Elk 662 for 73 years. Most recently, he served as the organizer of their events. He served on various area boards of directors including; Antigo Area Chamber of Commerce, Group 6 Wisconsin Bankers Association, Wisconsin Valley Safe Deposit Association and Salvation Army. He also served as chairman of Langlade County Legacy Committee, Langlade County U.S. Treasury Department Savings Bond and memorial gifts chairman for the Langlade County -Wisconsin Heart Association. He served as campaign treasurer for many organizations in their fund drives. Mr. Aulik was a member of the Lion’s Club and was a former director. He was a jury commissioner for 30 years.

He was a member of St. Hyacinth’s Catholic Church, having held the positions of trustee and secretary on its board.

Survivors include his daughter, Juli Aulik (Troye Shanks) of Madison, many dear extended family members and Jim and Norma Koles, close friends who were an important part of Jim’s life in recent years. In addition to his wife, Alice M. Aulik, he was preceded in death by sisters Margaret Aulik, Marquette Mason and Dorothy Falkenhagen and brothers Raymond and Bernard Aulik.

A visitation will be held from 2:00-5:00 pm Tuesday, March 20 at the Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, followed by a service at 5:00 pm. Father Charles Hoffmann will officiate. The Elks Club will hold a Lodge of Sorrow at 4:00 pm. The family invites Jim’s friends to join them for a gathering at Swartzendruber’s Supper Club following the service.
