Just 44 miles from Antigo, the Wisconsin Lions Camp in Rosholt, Wisconsin provides children and adults with disabilities an adventure that lasts a lifetime. The camp sits on 440 acres and has plenty of room for outdoor activities and it’s also a wildlife refuge.

The summer camp at the Wisconsin Lions Camp is very special, memorable, and in many cases a life-changing event for the children who attend. Since the camp opened in 1956, it has been dedicated to providing a quality camping experience for those with disabilities. They serve over 1,300 campers every summer.

The Lions Camp offers summer camp programs for children who are blind or visually impaired, deaf or hard of hearing, cognitively disabled, and children who have diabetes. They also offer adult programs for those who are blind or visually impaired and deaf or hard of hearing. The programs are offered at no cost to participants or their families.

For those interested in being a camper, an open house is being held at the camp on Sunday, April 29.

Camper applications are available online, via mail, or by asking your school guidance counselor. Deadlines are as follows: Adults who are blind or visually impaired, May 7, 2018; children with intellectual disabilities or educational autism, May 29; children who are deaf or hard of hearing, May 29.

The camp is also in need of summer staff to serve as male and female counselors, program specialists, and healthcare staff such as RN’s, LPN’s, graduate nurses and nursing assistants. They are also looking for kitchen and maintenance support staff. All applicants except for support staff must be a minimum of 18 years of age by May 29, 2018.

If you are interested in being a camper or staff, you can contact the Wisconsin Lions Camp by calling 715-677-4969 or emailing [email protected]. For more information, visit their website, www.wisconsinlionscamp.com.
