Lady Robins fall to Shawano on Soccer Field
For the Antigo Times
The Antigo Robin soccer team traveled to Shawano Tuesday night to take on the Hawks for their last non-conference game of the year.
Antigo started with first touch and did an awesome job to start. Defense held their line high and held it well, allowing midfield to attack the ball. Hannah Nonnenmacher advanced the ball and was able to get an early shot, but only to go wide of the goal.
The Robins started to lax in intensity and started to drop off in communication, but quickly fixed the issue and played a great game. The Hawks made their first strike at 41:20. Antigo came back quick and moved the ball up for a breakaway by Jami Nonnenmacher, but she could not connect with the back of the net.
Shawano had a shot that rolled in at the 56 minute mark after Antigo’s goalie Jena Nonnenmacher couldn’t get her hands on it quick enough. Antigo did not back down and fought hard through the mosquito-filled field. They played an excellent defensive game and left all they had on the field.
Shawano came away with 2 more goals in the second half making the final score 4-0. Jena Nonnenmacher had a phenomenal night with 22 saves.
Antigo traveled to Rhinelander Thursday for their last conference game of the season.
