Wolf River bridge replacement, detour scheduled in Langlade County
Public meeting scheduled June 12
Crews plan to begin replacement of the WIS 52 bridge over the Wolf River, in the town of Lily, on Monday, June 18. WIS 52 will be closed at the bridge and detoured via WIS 52, WIS 64, and WIS 55.
A public meeting is scheduled to take place from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, at the Lily Fire Hall, 7770 WIS-55. The contractor will be available to answer questions.
Pheifer Brothers is the prime contractor for the $1.1 million project to replace the 81 year old truss bridge with a new concrete girder span structure that meets current design and safety standards. Other improvements include:
- Replacing the deteriorating pavement leading up to the bridge
- Replacing the guardrail
- Installing new pavement markings and signs
- Improving safety by removing the Old 55 Road connection to WIS 52
Access to the boat landing from WIS 52, on the west side of the bridge, will remain open during construction. There will be no boat traffic allowed under the bridge during construction. Boaters will need to portage, if possible, at this location. A clearly marked path will be put in place to guide portaging traffic around the work zone.
Construction is scheduled for completion by September 2018. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
