Preschool Story Time June 13th 10:30-11:15am Antigo Public Library, 617 Clermont St., Antigo. Join us for story time at the Antigo Public Library! This is a great way for kids who haven’t started school yet to meet & socialize with peers. Every week we’ll read 2 or 3 books together as well as doing some songs & movement. We also do a simple craft or coloring page that helps kids develop creativity & motor skills, & occasionally (attendance permitting) other activities such as parachute play. This event is geared towards preschoolers, but older or younger kids are welcome to attend as well.

Langlade County 4-H Horse & Pony Project Open Gymkhana Speed Show June 16th 8am Open area, 9am Show. Langlade County Fairgrounds, 1633 Neva Rd., Antigo. This show is open to all riders of all ages. You don’t have to be a 4-H member to participate. There are classes for tiny tot – ages 10 & under, children – ages 11-14, intermediate – ages 15-18, & senior riders ages 19 & up. Top speed racers will be awarded gift prizes from 1st through 6th place. High point will be awarded in each age bracket thanks to the Lenzner/Lese families. There is a $2 entry fee per class. A negative Coggins test is required. All riders must wear helmets & boots. New this year, are jackpot races, with an 80% payout to the top 6 racers. Paws On The Run June 16th 8-10am Torphy Park, 806 US-51, Minocqua. Start your day with a walk/run with your dog(s) before the Paws in the Park starts. The 1st annual race begins & ends on Lakeshore Drive in front of the Minocqua Brewery. Event check-in & race day registration begins at 7am in Torpy Park. The race starts at 8am. All canine participants receive a commemorative collar charm & the top 3 male & female human winners will win a 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place doggy dish. Colossal Fossils Wisconsin History Presentation June 16th 1:30pm Antigo Public Library, 617 Clermont St., Antigo. What do wooly mammoths and jellyfish have in common? Both of their fossils can be found within the state of Wisconsin! This entertaining presentation highlights our state’s fascinating and incredible natural history, the fossils that can be found here and where to find them. Colossal Fossils also discusses animals that survived the Ice Age, as well as the extinct animals that most likely lived in our state even though science has not yet found any direct evidence of them living here. Wisconsin History spans a time from modern day to half a billion years ago when our state was much closer to the equator and covered in water. Crews plan to begin replacement of the WIS. 52 bridge over the Wolf River, in the town of Lily, on Monday, June 18. WIS. 52 will be closed at the bridge and detoured via WIS. 52, WIS. 64, and WIS. 55. A public meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, June 12th. The contractor will be available to answer questions.

Langlade County Community Ceramics, a non-profit painting group that meets every Monday and Friday from 9am-Noon at Sts. Mary & Hyacinth, Classroom 8, 819 3rd Ave., Antigo. Class cost is $3.00, to cover paint and anyone is welcome. We also take art-related field trips four times a year.
