For the Antigo Times

Thursday night, the Lady Robins soccer team traveled to Pulaski for their last game of the 2018 season.

Antigo won the toss up and chose to take first touch heading south.

Pulaski, taking #1 seed in the region, has a very good passing game and quickly came away with 7 goals within the first 15 minutes of the game.

Battling heat and a great Pulaski team, Antigo struggled to find their footing and their communication needed work. Senior captain Payton Bunnell had the only shot for Antigo in the first half.

Communication picked up and the girls were starting to figure out how defend the Red Raiders, but to no avail, the score was 12-0 at half. With such a steep score at half Antigo had the option of quitting, but they did not want to duck out of the game early, decided to take the loss with dignity and fought until the very last second at the 60 minute mark.

The Robins were able to get two more shots on goal, one shot made by Avery Nicholson and one by Jami Nonnenmacher, but neither saw the back of the net.

Pulaski made one more goal in the last 15 minutes of the game making the final 13-0. Antigo’s goalie, Jena Nonnenmacher came away with 21 saves on the night.

Pulaski advances in the Regionals and plays again on Saturday. Antigo finished their season and Thursday night’s game strong, leaving all they had on the field.
