Donald L. Casperson, of Mountain, was reunited with his bride Wednesday, August 8, 2018, when he passed away at his home under the care of his family and Unity Hospice after a courageous battle with kidney cancer. He was 79 years old. He was born on March 28, 1939, in Milwaukee, a son of the late Charles and Loraine (Leverenz) Casperson. Donald attended Wauwatosa High School Class of 1957.

He enlisted in the United State Marine Corp in 1958 and served as a Corporal in the Reserves until 1965. He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Karen Klein, on September 10, 1960.

Donald loved to travel and put on many miles as an owner-operator semi driver who delivered all over the United States. In his spare time, Donald could often be found in his garage, repairing things for others and sharing with his children his mechanical skills and love of engines. As an expert marksman in the Marines, he had a lifelong passion for guns and shooting. He treasured “Sunday drives” enjoying nature, often hitting flea markets or ice cream stands along the way. He enjoyed reading about the history of our country, had an interest in trains, and loved reminiscing about times past which included his childhood years growing up in California and riding horses.

Family was most important to Donald though, as he shared his passion of cars and trucks, along with his love of waterskiing and boating during many family vacations over the years. His great sense of humor, which his family thoroughly enjoyed, was sure to make anyone laugh. Donald was loved and respected by so many because of his humble, quiet, loving and caring disposition. He never drew attention to himself and would do anything to help a person in need.

Donald leaves behind 4 children, Donald Jr (Anita) of Douglas, WY, Tammy (Edward) Kindsfater of Townsend, WI, Ronald (Lynette) of Salmon, ID and Ginger (Joseph) Rappley of Ave Maria, FL; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy of Mountain, WI, his yellow lab Fritzie, and many other family, friends and loved ones.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Loraine; his wife of 57 years, Karen; 2 grandchildren and many other loved ones.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 12 at 4 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Mountain Cemetery, Monday at 10 a.m. Visitation will be Sunday at the funeral home from 1 to 4 p.m.
