Florence Schumitsch, of Antigo, died Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Evergreen Terrace. She was 96 years old. She was born on May 26, 1922, in Antigo, a daughter of the late Walter and Clara (Klemm) Heinrich. She married Lester Schumitsch on June 12, 1948, at the St. John parsonage in Antigo. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2004.

She was a graduate of Antigo High School, class of 1940. She continued her education at the Antigo Vocational School.

Florence worked at the pea canning factory as a bookkeeper, the Krambo Grocery Store, and the Nancy Shop as a clerk, and the Shoppers Guide as a headliner for 11 years. Florence and Lester owned a farm in Antigo, which became Schumitsch Seed.

She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and it’s Dorcus Society.

Florence enjoyed playing cards, gardening and was a loyal Milwaukee Brewer fan. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include three sons, Walter Skip (Molly) Schumitsch of Wilmington, NC, Conrad (Nancy) Schumitsch of Green Bay and Scott (Penny) Schumitsch of Antigo; seven grandchildren, Allison (Chris) Hummel, Max and Bradley Schumitsch, Rebecca (Chad) Roehl and Tracy (Toju) Eshedagho, Kay (Zack) Prendergast and Jay Schumitsch; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by sisters, Lorna Vafeas, Marie Poss and Verna Adams and brothers, Roy, Eldo, and Orrin.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. David Karolus officiating. Entombment will take place at the Queen of Peace Mausoleum. Visitation will be Friday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice.

A special thank you to the staff at Evergreen Terrace for the wonderful care provided to Florence
