Irene Frances Stigelski passed away Monday August 6, 2018, at Rosalia Gardens under the care of Leroyer Hospice. She was 99 years old.
Irene was born in Antigo, July 31, 1919 to the late Lawrence and Frances (Greskowiak) Knapkavage.
She attended St. Hyacinth Catholic School.
She was united in marriage to John Stigelski September 11, 1948 in Antigo, he preceded her in death November 25, 2004.
Lifelong resident of Antigo and a wonderful homemaker, Irene was also a member of Ss. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church.
Irene is survived by daughter Joy (Kris) Pecha of Antigo and daughter-in-law Nancy Wiegert of Monico, grandchildren, Jennifer (Lee) Beran of Birnamwood and Josh Pecha of Antigo, great-grandchildren, Alexia Nelson and Cody Beran, sister-in-law Margaret Knapkavage of Antigo and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Irene was preceded in death by her son Gary Stigelski, 6 sisters, Louise Spychalla, Nettie Danielson, Angela Wolf, Genevieve Knapkavage, Sophie Knapkavage, and Helen Knapkavage; 4 brothers, John, Stanley, Frank, and Eugene “Jimmy” Knapkavage.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Ss. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic church on Friday, August 10th, at 10:00 AM. Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 09, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home and on Friday at the church from 9:00 to 9:45 AM at the funeral home. There will be a Rosary service at 6:30 PM with a parish wake service to follow Thursday at the funeral home. Father Matt Simonar will be officiating.
Entombment will follow at the Queen of Peace Mausoleum.
