Kenneth H. Preuss, 87 of Birnamwood, died on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at his home under the care of Ministry-Ascension Hospice.
He was born on September 26, 1930 in Wausau, the son of the late Alfred & Emma (Rosenau) Preuss.
Ken served in the US Navy during the Korean was on the USS Missouri.
On September 11, 1954, Kenneth was united in marriage to Leone Meverden in Pine City, Minnesota. She survives.
Ken worked as a courier for Perolator until his retirement. He was the past director of Northeast Wisconsin Appaloosa Horse Association. Ken was a member of various horseshoe teams, the manager of a fast pitch softball team in Wausau and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Birnamwood.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Leone Preuss of Birnamwood; two sons, Paul (Cheryl) Preuss of Birnamwood and William (Susanne) Preuss of Spring Hill, Florida; five grandchildren, Billie Jo Preuss, Shaun (Alissa) Preuss, Kayla (Allen) Hanke, Shelly (Joshua) Kasper and Steve Preuss; 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and one sister, Jean Braunel, of Marathon.
In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Randall; two brothers, Ralph and Marvin Preuss and two half-brothers, Clarence Westphal and Lawrence Westphal.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Birnamwood. Rev. Matthew Christians will officiate. Inurnment will be in Forest Cemetery with military rites conducted by Darling-Gunderson Post #341, American Legion. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church.
