The Buckskinners Rendezvous, also known as the Stumble Stump Rendezvous, was held Thursday, Sept. 6 through Sunday, Sept. 9 along a section of the Springbrook Trails. The camp was filled with reenactors of the fur trapping and trading era of the 1800s. The volunteers dressed in period clothing and put on demonstrations, which included candle making, leather working, cooking, hawk and knife throwing, and black powder demonstrations.

Friday was Kids’ Day, and students from the Antigo School District were invited to participate in the demonstrations, including toy making.

The Rendezvous was previously held at Hudson Street Park, near Antigo Lake. In 2009, the event moved to the clearing off the Springbrook Trails. The stumps left behind from the removal of small shrub trees to clear the area gave the event its new name – Stumble Stump Rendezvous. Buckskinners gather each September to reenact the fur trading era.
