Strong Bones with Kathy September 11th & September 13th (Every Tues. & Thur.) 9-10am Langlade County Senior Center, 1225 Langlade Rd., Antigo. Strong Bones is an ongoing strength training program designed to help adults become or stay fit, strong & healthy. Individuals will improve muscle strength, bone density, self-confidence, sleep and vitality. Also, participants have shown a decreased risk of diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, depression & obesity. Classes are offered for an hour, twice a week. Stepping On Workshop September 11th-October 23rd (Tuesdays) 10am-Noon Peace Lutheran Church, 300 Lincoln St., Antigo. Take a Stepping On workshop. Stepping On can help you avoid dangerous and costly falls, so you can keep doing the things that you love to do. In just 7 weeks, you will learn to identify & remove or avoid fall hazards in your home and outside, learn how vision, hearing, medication & footwear affect your risk of falling, learn strength & balance exercises you can adapt to your individual level and learn to get back up on your feet the right way if you do fall. You’ll regain the confidence to stay active in your community and do the things you want to do. Suggested contribution for the 7 week session is $10. Preschool Story Time September 12th 10:30-11:15am Antigo Public Library, 617 Clermont St., Antigo. Join us for story time at the Antigo Public Library! This is a great way for kids who haven’t started school yet to meet & socialize with peers. Every week we’ll read 2 or 3 books together as well as doing some songs & movement. We also do a simple craft or coloring page that helps kids develop creativity & motor skills, & occasionally (attendance permitting) other activities such as parachute play. This event is geared towards preschoolers, but older or younger kids are welcome to attend as well.

37th Annual Tomahawk Fall Ride for MDA September 13th-16th Downtown, Tomahawk. The 37th Annual Tomahawk Fall Ride brings in more than 40,000 motorcycle enthusiasts and others to the area each September. The event not only brings in entertainment and the newest motorcycles and accessories from Harley-Davidson Motor Company, but it also raises money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). In fact, the Tomahawk Fall Ride is the largest local fund raiser for MDA in North Central Wisconsin. There will also be music, entertainment, food & refreshments. Cliff, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin, is immediately taken by English singer Sally Bowles. 19th Annual Lakes and Leaves Bike Ride September 15th 7am Summit Lake Park, US Highway 45, Summit Lake. This annual ride offers some of the most beautiful road riding in Langlade County. Helmets are required. There will be rest areas, food & refreshments. With 4 different route lengths (6, 18, 38, & 62 mile) we have something for everyone. Departure Times are: 8am – 62 mile ride, 9:30am – 38 mile ride, 10:30am – 18 mile ride. 11:30am – 6 mile ride. Pre-registered and non-registered riders must check in between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Saturday at Summit Lake Park. All riders are welcomed with morning refreshments at registration. Lunch will be served at 12:30 pm following the ride. Riders of all ages may participate. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED Training Program September 15th 8am-3:30pm Northcentral Technical College, 312 Forrest Ave., Antigo. Participants who complete this training program will be certified by the American Heart Association as a CPR/AED provider. You will learn to perform CPR and use an AED for adults, children & infants and relieve choking in adults, children and infants. The 1st annual Jack Lake Crazy Eights Mountain Bike Race, part of the Wisconsin Endurance Mountain Bike Series (wemseries.com), will be held at Jack Lake Mountain Bike Trail at Veterans Memorial Park. Get your friends together for a team, or go for it solo. Make this race a weekend long trip! We have a group campsite reserved for racers from Friday, September 14 – Sunday, September 16. There is swimming in beautiful Jack Lake just a short walk from the race pit area & group campsite, a disc golf course & a very nice shower facility. EAA Warbird Badger Oconto Fly-In September 15th 9am-5pm Oconto Airport, 2983 Airport Road, Oconto. Warbird aircraft that attended in 2016 are Yaks, WACO, L 19 Bird Dogs, a TBM Avenger & various others. In 2015 there were over 50 different types of aircraft that attended. Remote Controlled (R. C.’s) will fly during the day with a 1 hour show scheduled at 2pm. The car & tractor show in 2015 had 250 Model A’s & T’s, muscle cars, tractors & everything in between. The army encampment expands every year. Vendors, crafters and artisans will be in attendance & visitors will enjoy the variety available.
